    Back in 1971, when I was a kid, they held an autograph session at Andy Etchebarren's liquor store in Hacienda Heights. The Orioles were in town to play the Angels. It was mobbed with kids and I remember waiting in line a long time. But I was able to get a ball autographed by Brooks Robinson, Dave McNally, Jim Palmer, Davey Johnson and Etchebarren. I still have it somewhere.

    There was no point in the Angels signing Rosenthal to a minor league deal. Even if he pitched well, he wasn't going to propel the Angels into the playoffs. And then he would just be a free agent at season's end.

    Edmonds would have been a free agent after the 2000 season. There was reportedly some friction between Edmonds and the other Angels players which prompted the trade and made it seem unlikely he would have signed an extension with the Angels. Edmonds signed a 7-year extension with the Cardinals in May 2000.
