  1. The thing I like about Dipoto is that he not only took a Billy Beane approach (using statistics) to assembling a team, but he also took into account scouting (a player's physical and mental makeup). My problem with Scioscia is he doesn't use statistics. He runs his team primarily on loyalty. His loyalty to his veterans and coaches is so extreme that it has hurt this team and caused our frustrated GM to leave. If Scioscia used statistics he would realize that his team is overly aggressive on the basepaths and that bunting is generally non effective.
  2. Hopefully Gott sticks, alleviating the need for Salas. One good trade balancing out another not so good trade.
  3. When I saw Kubitza play in a Bee's game a couple months ago, he managed to be picked off 3rd by the catcher with less than 2 out. Bee's were down by 1 run at the time. I'm sure we have not seen the last of Kubitza's boneheaded base running.
  4. Plays 2B, SS, 3B, LF. Mostly SS. Dipoto called him an “exceptionally good defender” at 2B/SS.
  5. Carlos is back in lineup tonight! What will he do for an encore?
  6. DeLoach got a little roughed up today against the Cardinals AA Team: 6.0 IP 7 H 6 R 4 ER 2 BB 0 Ks 0 HRs Hopefully he bounces back in his next outing
  7. When I saw Kubitza last week, he looked good at the plate. I don't see him having much power for a 3B based on his build but I'm not a scout. Also, he made a bonehead base running error by being picked off by the catcher while on 3B with less than two outs. So I guess he fits right in with our MLB team
  8. Also, Angels AAA catcher Carlos Perez hit a bomb to left field off a pretty good pitcher.
  9. I just got back from the Bees vs River Cats game tonight and Heaney dominated just as his stats for tonight indicate. He looked smooth effortless. I will say the ump's strike zone seemed a little big, but Heaney had the River Cat (Giant's AAA team) hitters off balance all night. Another note, it was kinda cool seeing AAA had the pitcher clock as well. No replay, but the 20 second timer was there.
  10. The competition/depth in starting pitching should be good in 2015. Tropeano, Heaney, and Santiago will all compete for one spot: 5th starter. Whoever has the lowest ERA will start. Santiago can move to the pen. Both Tropeano and Heaney have options. Great flexibility and depth that was so desperately needed these past several years.
  11. A great Angels fan. My sincere condolences to those closest to Mike.
  12. Moncado is being compared to Yasiel Puig and Jose Abreu. Sign away Jedi.
  13. More from mlbtraderumors.com http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/angels-to-sign-cuban-infielder-roberto-baldoquin-for-8mm-bonus.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook Here's an interesting excerpt: Because Baldoquin was subject to the international signing bonus, the Angels have now clearly shattered their international bonus pool. By adding Baldoquin, the Halos are subjecting themselves to a 100 percent luxury tax on any dollars spent over their $2.383MM bonus pool, and they will also be ineligible to sign any player for more than $300K in either of the next two international signing periods. They can, however, spend as aggressively as they wish for the remainder of this signing period, which runs through mid-June. At this point, because they’ll already have been hit with the max penalties, the only further penalties they will incur will be the 100 percent on any further dollars that are spent on international free agents.
  14. Trout would have scored easily, but not Gordon. As I watched that play unfold, I kept seeing flashes of Cespedes throwing out some non-Trout Halo at home. Rat farts!
  15. Freeze with a 1-out walk! Let's go Halos!!
  16. Love the positivity! Nobody likes a whiner. A winner yes, but not a whiner.
  17. Trout walks, 2-on, 2-out, Pujols steps up to bat
