Looks like some good power arms in the '14 draft. 7 of the top 10 are pitchers. 1 of the 3 position players is a catcher. Looks like we'll either draft a great pitch or the top catcher. Now trade Vargas, and get another first round pick. Load up.

I'm going to go ahead and tip my cap to the Indians bullpen. They are fantastic.

OK, I just looked. Tiajuan Walker is the #4 overall ranked prospect in baseball. Nick Castellanos is #12. And we picked Cowart, Bedrosian, Clarke, and Bolden before them. Ouch.

This is one of the reasons I still like Dipoto - he appears to use a sabermetric approach to the draft. I just don't think Dipoto would have allowed Bane to pick those first 5 players in the 2010 draft. He would have pulled a Billy Beane. We had 5 picks in the first 40 picks and the only one that looks decent so far is Lindsey. With that said, besides Walker and Castellanos, I don't see many successful players that were picked after our first pick (Cowart - 18th overall). So, maybe 2010 was just not a very deep draft.

He will be tough to trade this offseason. Maybe someone will pick him up off waivers.

Our bullpen is a key element to obtaining a top 5 draft pick. Without them we would be a few games over .500 but not in the playoffs. I say leave them in. Every loss is a win. Next year, on the other hand, I want every single one of these bullpen bums to be panhandling outside Chavez Latrine.

25 HRs in only 95 games. Not too shabby. Zach has already passed Calhoun's HR total in High A (2011). Cron had 27 HR last year in 129 games of High A. Zach still has a little over two weeks left in the season, plus he missed several weeks in July. AA next year will be interesting for Zach. He seems like a smart player. I hope he does well.

Go...ummm...Top 5 Draft Pick?

I'd be fine trading both Cron and Cowart for a solid pitcher. I just don't see them contributing to the major league team. Cron will probably hit well in SLC, but his defense will never be stellar. 1B and DH is blocked by Pujols, Trumbo, and all our 4th OFers.

Dipoto needs to put all his efforts into rebuilding the pen, pitching depth, and firing Scioscia.

Trout = "Franchise Player" We must build around this guy for the next 4+ years. Although I think Arte can absorb the Pujols/Hamilton salaries, we all know Scioscia will prance these guys out everyday, put them in the middle of the lineup, even if they are hitting below .250. Eggo my Leggo.

Just noticed newly acquired Grant Green has been starting at 3B the last two nights. No errors thus far, although I have not seen him there so I have no idea how he looks. Any reports?
