The offense and defense will be better next year. Our pen will be better. How could it be worse, right? Still, I don't know if it will be sufficiently better. Maybe we'll get lucky and pull some relievers through our farm system. Morin, Alvarez, Maronde? Bring them up! Other than those guys, it looks like most of our good minor league pitchers are far away from the majors. So, improve the pen, pick up a #3 SP, get a solid year from Richards, then yes we'll make the playoffs. Likely? No, but baseball (as we all know by now) is very unpredictable.

MLB has Green ranked as the A's #3 top prospect. He just missed the top 100 MLB prospect list. Still, he's probably within the top 120. Not too shabby.

Callaspo for Kennedy is about fair. Junk for Junk. Let Kennedy, Blanton, Hanson and RIchards battle for the 4 and 5 spot.

Scott, Dave and Chuck - Thanks for all your hard work. I love this stuff. It seems the last two years (2012&13) we've had better drafts than the previous several years (based on minor league stats). I especially like RJ Alvarez, Alex Yardbrough, and Mike Morin. I wonder if this is partly due to Jedi Jerry Dipoto's approach to the draft compared to Tony Reagins's approach.

Huge bummer. I'd be surprised if he was back before August. I suppose the only good thing is that it will overlap the All Star Break.

I don't see the team trading Bourjos or Trumbo, because those are guys who are MLB-proven and still have high projections. Although Calhoun might turn out better than both, I think the Angels believe he is too much of an A's type player: smaller size, slower, less power than Peter or Mark. I personally think it is time to rebuild and would like the team to start thinking stock market type investing: Sell high (Calhoun, Bourjos, Trumbo, Kendrick) Buy low (Rebuild the farm with some top prospects 2-4 years away) Load up!
