  1. guaranteed at least one HR a la Napoli
  2. "The Angels have signed third-round pick Kenyan Middleton for a bonus of $450K,tweets Callis. Middleton is a two-sport athlete out of junior college in Oregon who touches 95 mph with his fastball and features a tight slider as well. He signed $91K under slot." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/06/draft-signings-johnny-field.html In other draft news: The Angels signed sixth-rounder Harrison Cooney for a little under $223K, according to BA's Jim Callis (on Twitter). The Florida Gulf Coast right-hander's salary is exactly in line with the slot recommendation for the No. 187 pick.
  3. 2002 was such a different team. Remember when the Rally Monkey actually worked on a consistent basis?
  4. Jerome made another case today why he should replace Joe as a starter. Yes, Jerome allowed 4 runs in 6 innings, but he looked good and won the game. The pitch Chris Davis hit out was below the knees.
  5. Here's hoping the 2014 Draft is loaded with excellent young players. We should get a top 10 pick.
  6. meatball right down the middle. F off Downs
  7. How to lose a very win-able game, reason #38
  8. I wonder how much we could get for Dennis Kuhl
  9. Bases loaded. One out. Struggling pitcher. Pujols-Trumbo. And nothing. Why am I not surprised?
  10. I think a better question would be is why does this team under-perform?
  11. To me, the whole anti-JeDi campaign is more of a witch-hunt rather than a rational business decision. You want someone to blame? Look at the horrible players making the big money (Hamilton, Pujols, Wilson, Blanton) and the manager who's job is to motivate players. Firing Dipoto would be stupid and futile.
  12. "Except for a one-season stint as a starter, Gordon has served as Missouri State’s bullpen ace since arriving on campus. Gordon has added fastball velocity this season and now is clocked in the low-90s. His curveball is his best pitch, however, and he also throws a changeup and slider. Even though he throws four pitches for strikes, Gordon will remain in the bullpen as a professional because of his size (he is listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds). He will be a solid senior sign and is polished enough to move quickly."
  13. Round 10: Angels pick another pitcher, RHP Grant Gordon
  14. By 2018, we should have pretty good pitching
  15. "McGowin pitches with some emotion on the mound. He gets fired up after giving up a base hit or a run, and that’s when he dials up his fastball—which has gotten as hot as 95 mph this year."
  16. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/sleeper-alert-kyle-mcgowin-rhp-savannah-state/ Sleeper Alert: Kyle McGowin, RHP, Savannah State
  17. Round 5, pick #157 - Angels pick another pitcher Kyle McGowin (RHP) "Raw"
  18. Baseball America ranks Morris at #227. Another cash saving pick?
  19. Baseball America has Middleton ranked way down at #319. Angels must see something else in this kid.
