You either go for it, and spend like a big market club, or you cut bait and sell. The only wrong way to go about this is exactly what the Angels are doing. Not selling, but not signing anyone impactful.

We have all been clamoring for Mike to be more vocal and express his desires... Well today is about as open as he can be to the fans, the media and the FO. He wants to be here and win here, he has not and will not ask for a trade YET but in return he wants Arte to keep improving this team or at least attempt to improve it. So I can easily see Trout and Perry telling Arte they want money for Snell or Monty but Arte thinking it might not move the needle enough "entertainment" wise. Bellinger however as many of us have talked about this offseason seems like the perfect Arte deal. He gets an ex Dodger and another lefty in the lineup, it just makes too much sense if Arte was to be pressured into signing one of the bigger FA's remaining. 
Id certainly be happy if we signed Bellinger but as usual the SP is still very suspect 

Mike Trout showing up at ST flipping over tables and talking shit is the most un-Mike Trout thing ever and possibly the best sign that the people Arte claims to care about are fed up.

I appreciate Trout coming out and putting a little heat on Arte/Carpino.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm just as excited about the Angels season this spring as I have been EVERY DAMN SPRING since I've been a fan of the team going back to 1979.
Some of you people are legit spoiled cry babies that want shiny things or you're going to throw a fucking tantrum. 
To me, the youth of the team and the direction at the helm from Ron Washington and an entire new coaching staff pumps me the hell up. 

I'm not really in favor of signing Bellinger or Snell, but I don't think either would have "too much attention" on them.  Neither is particularly high-profile and I don't think that would change even if they sign a large contract. 

Good to see spring training optimism as always. Sounds like the players may be enjoying less media attention and the start of a new beginning. I didn't even think of how going back to the 5 man rotation could be a benefit for this team until Reid Detmers talked about it in an interview after Ohtani left. I'm not honestly expecting much this season in terms of wins and losses but am looking forward to the season. Guess we'll see how it goes. 

He said he wasn't going to add to payroll unless the player would substantially make the team better. 
Honestly I think Montgomery and JD Martinez would do that, but that's just me. 

He didn’t say that.  He said that the budget would decrease from last year. But I do agree Bellinger isn’t coming here, but I doubt they will go into the season without adding more payroll to the rotation.

I think Blum is actually a pretty good reporter, and I appreciate how critical he's been in Arte and the org overall. He has dogged them on things that they deservedly need to answer to. He has a good pulse on the fans, both casual and diehard, and he's written some great pieces on players and experiences that usually fall by the wayside.

But I also think there's a little Icarus flying too close to the sun aspect here. He's become a little too focused in trying to land some interview to ask the tough questions that I feel it's blinding him a little bit more than he realizes. It's turning into a perpetuating cycle, especially with Rendon and Arte. 

This is like being in a nightmare where you scream for help, but no sound comes out. Throw punches, but no impact. Run, but go nowhere.
I am blown away that a beautiful baseball organization with so much potential over the past 2-3 decades has become such an absolute travesty.
Trout you are my man, but get out of here as soon as you can, and go win some rings. You deserve so much better.

I don't have a problem with a smaller budget, if that savings is put back into scouting & development. I would like to  see us getting players on the upside of their career, rather than the downside of their career.

And if Ohtani wasn't the right guy, I can't imagine Snell, Bellinger, etc. are.
