i think bauer has a legit legal claim based on how the league has treated former dodger pitcher, julio urias along with ozuna. urias has been arrested twice for DV, serving a 20 game suspension after his 2019 arrest and being suspended for the rest of the '23 season (there's the potential for a longer suspension if he signs with a team).
i think the strength of bauer's case is that he was was suspended so severely in comparison to other players in a similar situation, but they ended up serving a smaller suspension after being found guilty, while bauer served a much longer suspension while having the chargers dismissed (someone who's better at wording this legally may want to take a crack at the point i'm trying to make). the fact that bauer is a doosh or is unlikeable shouldn't have been a factor in his punishment, but it sure seems like it was.
