i think bauer has a legit legal claim based on how the league has treated former dodger pitcher, julio urias along with ozuna. urias has been arrested twice for DV, serving a 20 game suspension after his 2019 arrest and being suspended for the rest of the '23 season (there's the potential for a longer suspension if he signs with a team). i think the strength of bauer's case is that he was was suspended so severely in comparison to other players in a similar situation, but they ended up serving a smaller suspension after being found guilty, while bauer served a much longer suspension while having the chargers dismissed (someone who's better at wording this legally may want to take a crack at the point i'm trying to make). the fact that bauer is a doosh or is unlikeable shouldn't have been a factor in his punishment, but it sure seems like it was.

he's a success based on what he's done over the last four years, not just the first two weeks of this season. he's handled changing positions from catcher to 3b to rf to lf. he's hit well. he's adjusted well from being beaned last season.
