John Stellman got a reaction from Doug Van Oort Sr in Vote Of Confidence
Granted the Angels have been hit with a plethora of injuries. The number of players on the disabled list is almost half the total on their 25-man roster. In all honesty, it's hard to manage like that. But a season high 10 games out of first place in the American League West is still hard to stomach. And guess who is seated comfortably up stair as an assistant to general manager Billy Eppler? None other than former Padre skipper Buddy Black. If a nervous Arte Moreno wants to make a change, he won't have to go far. Food for thought./

John Stellman reacted to NrM in Trout's K/BB ratio has improved considerably
2016: 16% BB and 20% K, 4 point difference
2015: 13.5% BB and 23.2% K, 10 point difference
2014: 11% BB and 26.1% K, 15 point difference
He's always finding ways to improve his game, even when he's already the best.

John Stellman reacted to WeatherWonk in Albert all but a lock to be the career leader in GIDP
After Albert's recent spate of GIDPs, I thought I'd see where he ranked, all time.
Much higher than I suspected.
He is fourth, all time, in GIDP. And he is only 27 behind the all time leader, Cal Ripken, Jr.
Probably too much to expect him to take over the lead this year, but next year is almost a guarantee, barring injury. He averages about 21 GIDP per season. Figure an additional 10 this year, and that would leave him needing only 17 to tie for first.

John Stellman reacted to Erstad Grit in Pujols last 30 games
.300 av, 6 HR, 23 RBI's, .889 OPS
I'm usually pretty negative about Pujols but he is playing very well right now.

John Stellman reacted to DropOfAnaheim in Dipoto's Mariners
Being a halo fan is filled with pain. It is one thing being in last place. It is another seeing that quitter succeeding with the perpetual also rans from the Emerald City. They overcame a 10 run defecit last night to win again last night. We got Pujols though.

John Stellman reacted to Second Base in Angels acquire Jose Valdez
Recently turned 26 year old reliever, high octane fastball, dynamic stuff, just hasn't been able to miss bats. DFA'd by Detroit, comes to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. If the Angels can work with him a bit in us control and movement, he could be a shut down reliever.
Eppler is still hard at work.

John Stellman reacted to Chuck in When did you become an Angels fan? Were you an Angels fan before, during or after the 2002 season?
Who here was NOT a fan of the team before the 2002 season? Who here was? When?
I'm trying to gather some data for something I'm going to be posting on a regular basis throughout this season that I think you all will enjoy re: the 2002 World Championship Season.

John Stellman got a reaction from Angel Oracle in The Emergence Of C.J. Cron
I agree. C.J. has to hit consistently to give Albert a chance to make a real impact.

John Stellman got a reaction from Angel Oracle in The Emergence Of C.J. Cron
This is what the Angel offense needs. They need C.J; Cron to hit a consistent .275, power 30 balls out of the yard and drive across 90 teammates every year. With nights like last night, Cron could really solidify that No 5. hole in the lineup. Maybe opposing pitchers would be less likely to pitch around Albert Pujols if Cron is in the on deck circle. Who knows? Albert might actually get some balls to drive!
