  1. The guys just quality. Not hitting for as much power but has a .386 OBP so far this year while playing solid defense. I'd keep him and Escobar in front of Trout the entire year. With the amount of busts we've had from our minor league system and the lack of position player talent coming through the system lately, it's been a breath of fresh air to see how consistently solid this guy is

    Plus he's a Sun Devil!

Except he really can't.  No one will be able to provide equal talent.  Hey if you can find a team that will give us three or four 5 or 6 WAR players then I'll listen.  It's crazy, you know how good he is, yet you're still under rating him.  He gives you 9 wins all by himself.  He will be in his prime for another 6-8 years.

If the Astros said we'll give you Correa, Springer, Kuechel, and our best 3 prospects, would you do it?

I'm not sure I would but it's interesting to discuss

  3. He's got a legit argument for best pitcher in franchise history, and this team is going no where this year, so releasing him mid-season would be pointless. Let him finish the contract both parties agreed to then walk away. Hopefully he just admits he's done and retires an Angel. No way do you pay him to be on the team next year though. This is a business, and every nickel needs to go towards players who are going to help us win (especially when we've got 50 million dollars of dead weight tied up in Pujols/Hamilton next year too)

No, we need offense. I don't think there's anything more demoralizing than losing these types of games. How much you bet they score for Weaver, who seems to loathe when the team doesn't "back him up"?

So in your opinion the pitching is fine? Even if we were fully healthy, we still lack a legit ace and our bullpen other than Street is not very good either. I'm not arguing the offense isn't atrocious (it is). But the pitching is basically just as dysfunctional

The other day...think it was tuesday...was looking around for something to watch on tv and didn't even realize the Angels were playing until I saw it on the channel guide.

This is where I'm at basically. It's not that I don't care about the organization anymore, I'm just not interested in watching (other than flipping the game on for a Trout AB every now and then) and there's nothing to be invested in

As bad as the Halos are, the Twins and Braves are woeful.

Yeah they are, and Trout will likely keep us above both of them in the standings. But I still see us losing close to 100 games. It's not just the offense that's a disaster now. We literally don't have a single starting pitcher that can pitch more than 5 innings consistently

  7. They're going to lose 100 games and be in contention for the 1st overall pick. Santiago is our best pitcher (LOL) and the offense is just dreadful other than Trout and Calhoun.

This is the year where everything is finally blowing up in Arte's face: Pujols is now one of the worst players in baseball, injuries, etc. Get ready for 10,000 fans in the stands in August/September this year. If we break 3 million again, that would be impressive

  8. This season is not on Billy Eppler

This season is not on Mike Scioscia.

Having said that, I think it is time to turn the page on Scioscia and bring in someone new.

Eppler deserves at least 2 more seasons to try to rebuild the farm system and big league club before anyone can really judge him

Realistically, Arte Moreno is the biggest problem with the Angels by far

  9. Why even try to improve the team? They're not making the playoffs with Santiago, Weaver, Shoemaker, Tropeano, as the core of the rotation, I don't care how hot Trout/Pujols(LOL)/Calhoun get. It's time to strap in for a bumpy ride and watch this team lose close to 100 games this year and then hope our GM makes some prudent signings/trades, and Heaney/Richards/Skaggs can come back and pitch well next season and beyond.

Plus getting a top 3 pick in the draft and potentially a top prospect is something this team could use more than any other team in baseball

  10. I would never in a million years trade him to the Dodgers. Angels fans would never hear the end of that and I couldn't stomach watching him in blue.

I'd consider trading him to another team though if our future continues to look worse and worse. Obviously the return would have to be better than the best trade return this league has ever seen. And some of the talent coming back would have to be proven  producers at the MLB level.
