Also, I don't see 4 million under budget as a bad thing. Heck, I cold fix this team and save us money right now.
1. Trade CJ and Santiago for a 2B and a RP.
2. Trade Andrelton Simmons for a LF and a couple prospects. Play another defensive specialist at SS like Pennington.
There you go, now we have a 2B, now we have a middle reliever, now we have a LF, and now we have prospects. Was that so freakin' hard? I'll go into more detail later.
You gotta be kidding me
Dipoto, Stoneman, Eppler, hell even Reagins are not the problem with this team and never have been. It's the inept owner that micro-manages everything and has no vision except catering to the fat man in the dugout that is the problem with this franchise.
Mediocrity doesn't get you anywhere, and your solution of having Pennington at SS doesn't get you more than mediocrity. Neither does your mediocre fantasy reliever and 2B that Santiago and Wilson (making 18 million dollars) would bring us

It's embarrassing to have a generational player, yet not go all in on the next 2-3 years when you know damn well the farm system is pathetically bad and will not help us when Trout is set to be an FA in 2020.
I've never been this bummed about the future of this franchise, and it's because of that pathetic owner of ours

I think if they got Gordon they'd bat him in front of Trout. Escobar and Gordon at the top with their OBP% with Trout batting 3rd and Pujols 4th...Calhoun 5th
I agree. If they all produced like they are capable, that would be a hell of a lineup too

I make it a habit of responding to stupidity True Grich, so please understand that's the exact reason I'm responding to you.
1. No one cares about your fan boy fantasies during roster construction.
2. The best player should play period.
3. The salary is paid regardless, so why allow him to hurt the team.
Just because you got so attached to Weaver during his prime, doesn't mean the end hasn't come. His ERA has ballooned to comical levels. His fastball has dipped down to your typical high school senior. Whether or not you or anyone likes it, Weav's career is coming to a close, and not a peaceful decline, more like a cliff to be toppled over.
Weaver is NOT as good as Richards, Heaney, Skaggs, Tropeano, Wilson, Shoemaker or Santiago any more. So why would you start him over someone MUCH better? It'd be a disservice to the ANGELS. This team still exists with or without Weav. Just like it still existed after Nolan Ryan and Chuvk Finley. Just like it existed after Wally left. It will still exist after Trout leaves.
Just because you have a hard take saying goodbye, doesn't mean the Angels should purposefully hurt themselves by starting him.
You probably could have said all that without being an asshole though
Also, in my opinion you are wrong. It's one more season. Why not just keep Weaver on the roster and then let him walk away on his own terms next year? It's not like we have amazing pitching depth or something

what about Kubitza at 2nd instead of Gia
Kubitza is an average defender at 3rd. He does not have the athleticism to handle a position that requires a ton of range
-
I don't know what everyone sees in Trayce Thompson. He has a not good minor league track record and came up as a 24 year old and had 44 games of results in an extreme hitters ballpark. Big whoop...I see a league average outfielder
Peraza for Johnson is a wash and honestly Peraza is probably better when you factor in his speed and defense.
Montas is the real prize of the trade for the Dodgers, and allows them to flip De Leon/Urias for a big arm

I love Gordon and Upton. Gordon is an elite defensive player that gets on base and can hit 20 bombs...exactly what we need out of left field.
Upton still has star ability and will probably hit 30 home runs with a high OBP.
Cespedes would be OK but i'd rather have Gordon/Upton

Correct me if im wrong but does this mean Matt Cain is now the Giants 5th starter? They are going to be set on pitching next year.
Yes but Cain has really struggled lately.
If he rebounds to 70% of what he was in 2012, they will have arguably the best pitching staff in baseball next year
-
Ha, suck it Dodgers!
-
They have more points than the Ducks
Crazy season
Draisaitl looks like a star in the making

In 2015 HK hit .360/.398/.480 with RISP and .335/.373/.450 with men on base.
He had a terrible defensive season and is 32 year old now. If you're signing him, it needs to be a 3 year commitment at most for 10 million a season, and we need to get Upton with him because giving up a draft pick for just Kendrick wouldn't be smart.
More than 3 years for Kendrick seems really risky to me...He's not the greatest athlete in the first place...any more decline in skills and he's just an average ball player or worse. I wouldn't commit to someone for more than 3 years unless the ceiling is high or they are young (I'd give Upton 6 years)
-
He's got a .360 career OBP which is extremely impressive
But if our platoon in LF is Gentry/Nava...yikes. That's a 4th place ball club at best
-
Houston was dangling George Springer. I don't think they would trade directly with us, but I could see a three-team deal where Santiago goes to somewhere, who sends someone to Houston, and we get Springer.
Springer has put up star numbers when healthy. No shot we have the assets to acquire him especially when you consider Houston is in our division

Here's a question: Do you think politics and politicians changed, or that you changed in your worldview?
For me it's the neo-cons and liberal nut jobs that have ruined most of the good this country had going in the Reagan era.
Electing Hilary Clinton makes this problem worse. She's another Obama that is more manipulative and dishonest. Look at her work the past 15 years. She's had about 10 shady incidents. This is the last type of person America needs right now.
Personally I'd vote for Rubio or Cruz over Hilary in a heart beat. Rubio is the best of the GOP IMO because he's against the ridiculous spending the liberals want but is also diplomatic and rational.
But yeah, as for the thread...if a libertarian had a legit chance of winning I'd vote for them

I am glad he stayed in the NL. At least the Dodgers will continue to have a tough time making it past the first round

I like the Cubbies lineup:
CF Heyward
2B Zobrist
1B Rizzo
3B Bryant
RF Schwarber
LF Soler
C Montero
SS Russell
Soler will be moved for SP and a cheap CF brought in IMO, but yeah that's an amazing lineup

At least go Mikayla Trout for her sake lol
Ben Wrightman (Fever Pitch) would be proud
-
9/220 ballpark would be a reasonable offer for Hayward and if you get outbid, so be it

2016 Steamer Projections at 574 PAs:
Escobar: .280 .339 .380 | wRC+ 99, Def: 0.3, WAR 1.6
Giavotella: .270 .323 .373 | wRC+ 96, Def: -2.4, WAR 1.6
lol wow that is not a good sign.
Hopefully he's got one more high BABIP year in him

You guys do realize this is the Gott that pitched for the Halos last year right?
3.02 ERA...decent upside
He's not great but they need to add to the bullpen even more than they did 30 minutes ago now. At least we addressed 2B
Angels out on big LF FA

I think we're heading back to the dark times of the 90s when Trout leaves w/ Arte running the ship and the state of our minor league system. Hope I'm wrong obviously, but there is just no plan seemingly
