I'm not at all sold they are trading Calhoun. It's all about putting butts in the seats and Calhoun is the 2nd most popular player/fan favorite on the team right now (Behind Trout
-
Sucks. This franchise is in some serious trouble the next handful of years
-
What a weirdo and a terrible ballplayer. I'm sure Scioscia loves him
-
-
Pujols doesn't even hit the ball hard very often anymore. This is not a case of balls not finding holes. This guy could legitimately bat .220 this year and no one should be surprised. If I'm wrong I'll eat crow (hopefully). He really should retire before he embarrasses himself any further
-
You're operating under the assumption that Cowart belongs on the starting roster of a team with playoff aspirations. As far as I can tell, this isn't the case. I'd just as soon sub Cron out for Choi for a few games and see what comes of it.
No, I'm operating under the assumption that he brings more value to the table than CJ Cron and Ji-Man Choi. Which really doesn't seem far-fetched to me at all, but what do I know

Bat around again!
-
-
Calhoun has to drive these runs in because Simmons and Cron sure won't
-
Cron to the bench...make the defense a little better, and Cron is really sruggling at the plate can't see Cowart being that much worse
Escobar DH
Calhoun RF
Trout CF
Pujols 1B
Nava LF
Giavotella 2B
Perez/Soto C
Simmons SS
Cowart 3B
Stil not great but at least gives someone with defensive potential a chance
-
The thing about Cron is that even when he's hitting he's not a very good ball player. He can't run or field and is at best a .310 OBP guy. I'd try to trade him for some young arms like we did with Trumbo if possible
-
Alburquerque or Guerra would have been better choices over Achter. I've been saying since last season they should get rid of Bedrosian or Morin. Instead they keep them and get rid of Gott but that's water under the bridge and was a huge mistake in my opinion.
I still think Eppler is laying low for now and just waiting for the right time to get rid of Scioscia and replace him with Black. We'll be alright on the long run...... Eppler will make a couple of huge player moves after All-Star break and get rid of Scioscia.
Morin has at least had a good season at the Major League level in his career. He still deserves the rest of this year at least to try to turn things around.
Bedrosian is complete garbage that hasn't strung together two good appearances his entire career. I'm fascinated by the long leash they have given him

There's no reason for Shoemaker to be getting starts over Tropeano at this point. Weaver is an Angels legend and the team is garbage so if they want to let him ride it out for the rest of the year, whatever. But Skaggs and Tropeano need MLB experience to help their progression. Shoemaker is a disaster right now. He doesn't have the stuff to be effective at this point
Richards
Santiago
Skaggs
Tropeano
Weaver
Heaney can send one of the bottom 3 to long relief when he gets back.

I fell asleep during tonight's game but it's not Eppler's fault. He's in a no-win situation. He's got an owner who didn't want to spend this offseason, a team with a decimated farm system, and a bunch of overpaid and unproductive old guys. No GM could turn that recipe into something good
-
A-Rod. He was better last year and has shown more of a willingness to take his walks
-
Awful team that traded away all their stars, cold weather...not too surprising to me
-
Put a healthy Pujols at 1st and the infield defense is no longer an issue really. Giavotella has been impressive. However, Cron and Escobar look like complete liabilities with the glove at times
-
Pujols groundout to 3rd
-
We have what like 4, 5 years until this becomes a problem.
Yeah. I'm not trying to troll, just pointing out that no one should be butthurt if/when he leaves. He's given them 4 MVP caliber seasons and they've managed to make the playoffs once. He's gotta be thinking
-
Lol. So he wants to leave because in game 3 of the season they had bases loaded and didn't score a run?
No. He's going to want to leave because this team is not situated for success in the short or long term. Think about it for a little while, put yourself in his shoes
-
let me guess, he'll sign with his favorite childhood team, the Yankees. Right?
My guess is he'll sign with a team that is good and pays him a lot of money. The Angels can only offer him one of those things in the near future
-
Lol
I wish it was funny. Worst farm system in baseball, have missed the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years. He's a generational player. He wants to win. Again, why would he re-sign here when he can get the same contract elsewhere from a better situated team?
-
Trout's not going to want to stay here again. And can you blame him?
-
Team is terrible

Team was mediocre shit with Richards and Heaney (.480 ball club at best probably). They're going to lose close to 100 games this year without them. I'll be tuning in for Trout's 4 ABs every night though
