Gotta give props to Scioscia for throwing him into the fire. He’s been doing great and I have to imagine the success he’s seeing in these high leverage situations will only help him.

Kole =\= Upton
Upton has started off slow but so has half of our lineup. Upton is not one I would be worrying about...

Nice to see some of our minors leading their respective leagues. For the past few years you’d have to scroll pretty far to find some of our names, especially on the hitting side.
Does Rengifo have enough upside to be depth for 2nd base by next year?

Oh hey hit into the shift, what do you know.

So when one of them inevitably pulls a hammy we can say he visited the bathroom too much?

Is that bad?
Only as bad as him hitting into the shift every.single.atbat.

Any news on Maitan? I guess I figured he would see time at Burlington. I’m interested to see how he does in a new org.

He definitely needs to improve his extra base power if he expects to stick at 3rd.

Agree about Cowart but he's not a bad backup at 2B/3B defensively and I have not given up that he'll figure out hitting at ML level...did hit over .300 two years in a row at AAA and is a good pinch runner too.
I believe they'll keep Valbuena to rotate at 1B with Pujols and trade Cron since Valbuena gives them more flexibility since he can play 3B also and he bats lefty plus Thaiss may only be a year away at 1B and hits left handed so would replace Valbuena then.
This is a great point. I think moving Cron for a controllable reliever with upside is the next move. Valbuena can platoon with Pujols @ 1st and give Cozart a breather and Thaiss can be ready for the big leagues around the ASB if Valbuena falters.

Seems like a run of the mill Rondon to me..

I am not so sure. Nolasco has been a mainstay this year, for good and bad.
I agree, seems pretty even when you consider Nolasco and Santiago cancel each other out. We might have seen the last of Meyers in an Angels uniform.

Hopefully Adell can work on his eye/patience in the offseason. As he works his way up, pitchers will really start to take advantage of his swing and miss tendencies.

#3 was probably Ryan Bolden (R.I.P.)?
#11 and #12 could be McKay Christensen and Phil Leftwich
13. Trevor Reckling

NOT TONY SANCHEZ!!!!!
just kidding. whatever.
We got Justin Upton today.
Getting Brandon Phillips is cool too.
Cowart/Pennington platoon over the last 30 days? 0.3 WAR
Phillips over the last 30 days? 0.1 WAR
I'm sure .3 out of the .3 was yesterday's grand slam.
I'm glad we didn't give up Cowart but much rather have the consistency of Phillips moving into October.

Sigh: Tossed Salad is back

Hopefully we aren't giving up much if he has an opt-out after this year.

I downloaded AdBlock a few months ago and never get anymore of those forceful ads.

If my choice is Neil Walker for a year, or David Freese for 3 years........ I'll take Neil Walker every day and twice on Sunday and take my chances with Kubitza/Cowart.
I guess it depends on what we are giving up. With Walker getting 10-11m in arbitration, it cant take much? Wilson + 10m or Santiago straight up?

Poor Bud.
He the new Nats manager, no he isn't.
He's in the Angels FO, no he isn't.
Bud Black seems like a logical replacement if Scioscia has a slow start or cant motivate the troops anymore. If Arte spends big this offseason like i hope, the pressure will be real.
Something to make you feel better on the off day

I assume Kole Calhoun can’t hit into the shift on days off?
