  1. I have been told Weaver is looking for a 5-year deal. Not gonna happen.
  2. Even if Albert retired tomorrow, he would still get paid in full. However, the money owed to him would no longer be on the books so Artie would be free to spend $$$ w/o going over the cap.
  3. Back when he signed, Albert told Artie he would retire when he felt he was no longer able to play up to his standards.
  4. Just announced; Don Orsillo is going to SD Padres and will replace Dick Emberg who is retiring end of next season (2016). Don will be the TV guy for all road games next year and full time in 2017.
  5. For the remaining 13 games, we need to go at least 9-4 to get 2nd WC spot, which means winning 3 of 4 games in each of the remaining series.
  6. Saw it happen at last home stand. Wife complaining to hubby as they are walking down steps. He suddenly turns around to give her a piece of his mind and accidentally knocks her "fully loaded" helmet out of her hands and onto a guy's lap sitting on the aisle. Got real messy after that!
  7. ROTFLMAO!!! Best reply I have ever read since joining AW!
  8. Every time I see Tori I think back to when late in the season he says he loves playing for the angels, wants to finish his career with the Angels and...would play for almost "nothing" to remain an Angel. So when then Angels offer him 7.5 Mil he says "nah" and walks away. Yeah, the Angels were pursuing Greinke and asked him to sit tight until the deal was made. But Tori wouldn't wait. That's what I remember.
  9. I was very disappointed with the crowd last night when Mike came up to bat in the first inning. Thought for sure he would get a standing "O" for getting the Al Star MVP. Nope, just a normal response. Angel Fans just don't know how to be "real fans" of the game.
  10. As most of you know, the announced attendance, which by the way they have stopped doing this season, is paid. Actual attendance is usually 15-20% less. And, as the article mentioned, the Angels are more interested in filling the high end seats than the rafters. In addition, the Angels make a better profit on the 20-game pkg than season ticket sales.
  11. Per a forum discussion, the guy was an undercover police officer who had participated in the pregame ceremonies.
  12. Not sure, but wherever they stay, I bet they got a great deal from Wm Shattner!
  13. WOW!! Another MLB game at an empty stadium!
  14. Just tuned into the game on At Bat. Both radio broadcasts have crowd noise the the background.
  15. For the game in Baltimore today.... 1. Any need for a PA announcer? 2. Would Batters still want their walk-up music? 3. Run promo ads between innings. Can't imagine what it is going to sound like on radio.
  16. First of all, there's Vin Scully and then the rest. Nuff said. I really enjoy Victor but think we could do better than Gubi. The thing I like best about Victor is he is not afraid to speak his mind on a player or play that just occurred. I remember when Abraeu (sp?) grounded out moving a runner from 2B to 3B and Victor mentioned that it was all well and good, but his real job was to knock in the runner! As for a new color guy, I always wondered how Salmon would do? Now for pure entertainment, I would love to hear Clyde Wright in the booth. What hoot that would be!!!!!
  17. Umpires and their union originally requested a 5-man crew. Each umpire would rotate into the on-site replay booth following their plate assignment. Request was turned down by MLB. My guess, too costly. As is stands now, a crew traveling through NYC is assigned a 3-game replay stint at MLB.
  18. I agree with you. When walking my section after the game, I am amazed at the amount of leftover food, some of which is barely touched! The biggest leftover item in the "not like momma fixt it" is the Nacho `n Cheese (not the helmet). And of course the hot dog dad bought for the kids. "They taste funny!" I want some <enter their favorite desert>!! The most liked items come from the Smoke Ring, especially the Tri Tip Sammie's!
  19. All I know is, he looks like he is already in playing condition compared to what he looked like a year ago. Dude looks awesome! Guess he laid off the burgers this winter.
  20. It has been over a week since this article was released and I find it interesting that not a single player has come forward and taken public issue with what Hamilton said. Maybe Josh was speaking the truth. Why else would the entire team keep quiet?
