  1. The umpire was in the correct position to make this call. 3rd baseline extended slighty up the first side of plate. It is where he is supposed to be (yes, I am an umpire). Personally, I might have been further up the line in fair territory to get a better angle but I do not think his view of the play (blocking the plate) was compramised. BTW, squatting gives him a better angle of the play same as a golfer squatting to read the green. Do I agree with the ruling, no, but the umpires have been instructed by MLB to enforce the rule and, the managers/catchers have been forewarned it is going to be enforced!
  2. What I would really like is for Artie to remind us of the reason for changing the team's name and was it really worth it ($$$) in the end? Seems like all it has really accomplished is pissing off a lot of fans.
  3. All post season ticket pricing (face value) is controlled by MLB. The larger the market (L.A. vs the OC) the higher the prices. Back in 2009, the cheapest WS ticket was $125.00. BTW, had tickets for 1982, lower view between HP and 1B, price....$20!
  4. Maybe Yogi was right, 90% of baseball is 1/2 mental .
  5. Which tells me you have not been to the Budweiser Pavilion in the last 2 seasons.
  6. Sadly, for the most part, there was so much crowd noise (disinterest) that I could only hear half of the speeches and I was next to the diamond club.
  7. Because the SF Giants claim MLB rights to San Jose whereas the Dodger gave up those rights in 1961.
  8. Take your pick... Victor / Gubie or Terry / Mark
  9. Just one warning..... if it is late in the game and the score is tied or STL is down by a run or two, and the bases are loaded and, if your best hitter is coming to bat, for God's sake, don't expect to be able to stand up and cheer for him. You will be asked to sit down (seriously!). Angel fans hate it when out-of-town fans (or uneducated Angel fans for that matter) stand up and cheer for their players while they are batting. They have never understood that behavior unless there are two outs and two strikes in the last inning.
  10. When you throw across your body like Weaver does, it's bound to take a toll on the shoulder. At least that's what people way smarter than me are saying. Doubt we will see Weaver throwing +89 again.
  11. Was seated directly behind the Angels dugout yesterday during the 10th inning. Tying run on third, go ahead run on 2B. Trout down to his last strike. Some of the guys (Angel players) were standing along the rail, some were seated including Weaver. NO emotion coming from any of them!! No, "Come on Mikie, hit the shi®t out the ball!!" NOTHING! Then, when Trout does strike out,, they just turn around and head for the clubhouse as if the say...."oh well" Perhaps when they get in the clubhouse things are different, but in front of the fans, there is no emotion. Sad to see.
  12. Guess who is going to black out 25-30 home games AGAIN this year. Got a visit from AT&T sales guy today and he confirmed that AT&T has still not resolved their contract with FOX.
