  1. Nope, especially for someone over the age of 30. If there was a pitcher of the same caliber, but the same age as, let's say Heyward or even Upton/Leake, then yeah that makes more sense. Maybe like a Jose Fernandez in a few offseasons. But I think Boston will regret this move in a couple of years.
  2. Eh, this could easily bite them in the ass in a few seasons. Can't wait for the meltdowns when Price chokes in the playoffs. They're still missing 1-2 or starting pitchers before I'm a believer in them. Not to mention....Sandoval and Ramirez still.
  3. Don't agree with Ramirez playing third, though (or even the field in general). Absolutely not. But, again, if Boston ate 75-85% of Hanley's deal and sent Holt, I'd have to consider it. Holt would be a perfect player to flip the lineup over. 1. Heyward RF 2. Prado 3B 3. Trout CF 4. Pujols 1B 5. Calhoun LF 6. Ramirez DH 7. Perez/Soto C 8. Simmons SS 9. Holt 2B
  4. I'd listen if they ate almost all of his money and sent over either prospects or a good player (Holt or Bradley). If they ate enough money, the Angels could just cut him loose if he becomes a problem. Kinda like Texas with Hamilton...
  5. Jesus, literally no one has suggested trading CJ and his full salary. Of course the Angels will have to eat some of the money, but it means something in return. It's not like he has no trade value. Teams are way more likely to gamble on one year of him at a reduced rate.
  6. My goodness, just thank you for this.
  7. Definitely, seemed like those teams were always that one piece away from being a serious threat.
  8. I could see this. 1. Gardner LF 2. Trout CF 3. Davis DH/1B 4. Pujols 1B/DH 5. Calhoun RF 6. Hwang or Freese re-signed 3B 7. Walker 2B (Use whichever starter you don't trade for Gardner for him) 8. Perez/Soto C 9. Simmons SS Then if Arte really wants to go insane, Maeda/Price/Greinke/Leake/etc are signed to shore up the rotation.
  9. The Yankees do need some right-handed pop, but yeah, Cron doesn't seem like a fit though.
  10. I'd still prefer Heyward or Upton, but Gardner would be a pretty solid move heading forward. I'd take Hwang, Gardner, Maeda/Cueto, Jaso/Morneau, Soria/Sipp, and a trade for a second baseman. Depends on what you give up for Gardner.
  11. Trout, Heyward, Calhoun, Simmons, Lawrie, Cron, and Perez isn't a bad place to start. Second base would really only be the last real glaring hole. Move onto the pitching staff afterwards.
  12. Don't know the exact order, but I think it'll be Calhoun LF, Trout CF, Heyward RF, Lawrie 3B, Simmons SS, Giavotella or an upgrade at 2B, Pujols 1B/DH, Cron DH/1B, Perez/Soto C Would be nice if they could do all of those things along with upgrading second base, the pen, and adding a lefty bench bat. Yikes, Billy has a lot of work to do.
  13. Heck yes, Oakland's selling low. Pretty good at third base (defensively), but there's definitely room for improvement from the bat. Only 26.
  14. Hwang would make me less worried about power, he's still my guy for third base. Plouffe is still a pretty realistic possibility, he would offer even more power. There's reports the A's are talking to AL clubs about Lawrie after getting Jed Lowrie back, I wouldn't be surprised if the Angels were one of those teams. Trout, Pujols, Cron, Calhoun, Hwang/Plouffe/Lawrie, and the potential for Heyward to still be around 12-15 homeruns while providing a solid OBP at the top of the lineup? That has the potential to score enough runs AND play airtight defense.
  15. I think the only real sluggers on the market are Davis and Cespedes, Upton is a little more well-rounded than those guys. Basically, I don't think the Angels NEED a slugger, just good players at as many positions as possible. Heyward and Hwang would/could solidify the outfield and third base. Hwang would also add some pop in the middle/lower part of the order along with Cron. You already have Trout, Calhoun, hopefully a healthy Pujols slugging in the middle, and hopefully a more polished CJ Cron, I don't think power is essential. I still also like the idea of a left handed bat to add to the bench, Morneau or Jaso could make sense depending on their asking price. Cunningham could be a stopgap until Hinshaw is ready to be the fourth outfielder.
  16. Solid move, they needed depth everywhere, this helps. Now move onto the next need. Long Term Shortstop Utility Infielder (Veteran) Backup Catcher Left Field Third Base The Bullpen Second Base Maybe another bench piece?
  17. Soto signed. So that's Soto, Pennington, and maybe Cowgill on the bench? Jaso could make a ton of sense now.
  18. This would be my number one target if they decide to get a starter.
  19. Hard to have a five man bench in the American League since one of the spots is consumed by DH along with the 12-man pitching staff. Pennington is obviously the utility infielder who comes in late to replace Giavotella, acts as insurance for Simmons (a luxury), and gives them depth at third in case they go with a young gun. I'm more in favor of giving Bandy a full time gig, so I'm sending him down to Salt Lake, and signing Soto, or flipping Salas for Ryan Hanigan from Boston. I'd non-tender Cowgill, save the $1.3ish million, and sign Rajai Davis or Chris Young to be the fourth outfielders/lefty mashers (especially key since I have Heyward in my outfield dream/plan along with Kole who could use some insurance in that regard as well). And then I'd probably be pretty content with letting others already within the org fight for the last spot. I could see taking a flier on Bonifacio too. Pennington, Soto/Hanigan, Davis/Young, and Navarro/Bonifacio/Kubitza etc.
  20. I'd do that. I doubt they'd get rid of McKinney but he'd be my target from their farm.
  21. Not a chance. Edit: Unless you're willing to deal Richards/Heaney
  22. Hwang! Yes! He's the guy I thought they were gonna post originally, I would completely fine with the Angels going that route for third base. At the worst he platoons with Cowart. Flip CJ and another piece for Gardner or sign Heyward, sign a pen arm, look at other ways to improve second, the bench, and maybe catcher.
