  1. Is it just me, or are the 2023 Rangers and the 2023 Mariners looking a lot like the 1995 Angels and 1995 Mariners?
  2. After today, the Angels are no longer dead last in OPS and ERA. They are 29th and 29th. I'm trying to stay positive here. Baby steps.
  3. That's why I think there is a higher chance that he stays now, at least for the next couple of years. One thing he gets from Moreno, that he can't guarantee that he will get elsewhere is he gets to do whatever he wants here. He obviously wants to play every single game. Maybe he didn't know the extent of the injury after the first game of the doubleheader, but he knew he was hurt. He still went out and played the 2nd game. I can't think of any other current player that would have done that. Arte will have to give him an opt out, maybe even multiple opt outs, to get it done though.
  4. I know it's an unpopular thing to say here, but Jerry Dipoto is much better at his job than any of the guys that followed him here. Scoreboard.
  5. The 1991 lineup will always stand out to me. That was pretty much the last year of trying to buy their way into "winning one for Gene". They went into a full rebuild in 1992. and then let the good young players play after that. Dave Winfield was still productive, but that 1991 lineup had Lance Parrish, Gary Gaetti and Dave Parker in it and they were all well past their prime except Gaetti who was just collecting a paycheck.
  6. I don't know what the total will be. However, they'll win a bunch of meaningless games the last week and drop at least a couple of spots in the draft. They seem to always do that. I am hoping they don't finish with a .500 record. I want the shame of 8 consecutive losing seasons to sit squarely on the shoulders of Arte.
  7. With the amount of games they've missed already Neto and O'Hoppe have definitely fit right in as future Angels' mainstays.
  8. If he can't pitch anymore, than he still becomes the highest paid player, just not for as much money. He can definitely play the outfield. He's probably the best athlete in the game. With his speed he could even play Center. I see him in RF though. That's where he mostly played in Japan. One thing he knows about the Angels organization, they have always let him do what he wanted. If he wants to pitch again, they will let him do that. Other teams might not.
  9. Rendon never wanted to be here from the beginning. It was obvious that he just wanted the money. Same with Gaetti. Once Gaetti left, he went back to being the same player he was before. Albert never wanted to be here either. However, at least he played hurt.
  10. The Astros were without Brantley all season. Without two of their best players for long stretches. McCullers hasn't pitched. Urquidy's been hurt this year. The list could go on. The Angels are just not a good team. They haven't been in a long time. You guys are acting like the injuries have something to do with this. Tell me ONE time when this has been a good team since 2016?
  11. One team is 4 for 6 with RISP today. One team is 1 for 7. Watching this team the last 4 weeks has been like watching Groundhog Day. Except in the Angels' version Bill Murray doesn't wake up with Andie MacDowell at the end. He just wakes up alone, or maybe with a horse's head in his bed.
  12. So, who becomes the interim manager after Nevin gets fired, or just quits in frustration like Terry Collins.
  13. If "aloof" is slang for playing baseball, and exhibiting very poor fundamentals while doing it, he was spot on.
  14. Is Velazquez really better than Fletcher? If so, Fletcher must be a even worse than I think he is.
  15. As much as this team sucks, I still pay attention because even bad baseball is better than no baseball which we will have in a little over a month from now. Once the Angels' are done, I don't pay attention anymore. After that, it will be 6 months of hoping things will get better next year.
  16. Weakest Angels' team mentally in 45 years of watching them. Bunch of pus....uh....wimps. Crumble anytime something goes wrong.
  17. 3 up and 3 down all on called third strikes. I'm sure I've seen that before, but I can't remember when.
  18. Based on their track records, Billy Beane will have the A's in the post season before the Angels are.
  19. Complete collapse in August by everyone except a handful of players Last in batting average, OBP and OPB Last in ERA and WHIP.
  20. Of course, if Ted Williams had played in an era where 40% of the teams made the post season, I'm sure he would have played in more than one World Series.
  21. It will be interesting. Trout couldn't hit a good fastball all season. Now, he's going to try to hit them without facing live game pitching for 7 weeks. The top 2 should be able to at least draw some walks which will hopefully give Ohtani a chance to swing the bat.
  22. Three way tie for 1st. I don't want him in the AL West. 1. Astros, Rangers & Mariners 4. Dodgers (I don't live in So Cal anymore and I don't watch TV. I'm sure I would feel differently if I still did.)
  23. After watching this team collapse in pivotal moments for decades, it was nice to see it happen to their opponent for a change. Especially to Barroid.
