  1. I may be in the minority, but I would sign Stassi to an extension this winter if there is a reasonable deal to be had and not worry about another "starter": Since his return from the Injured List on June 1, Stassi has been on a tear, emerging as a quality bat from an unlikely position. His 170 wRC+ is the seventh-best mark among hitters with at least 100 plate appearances over that stretch. He leads all catchers in wRC+ during that span, along with a handful of other categories, including slugging percentage. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/max-stassi-is-making-the-most-of-a-small-sample-again/
  2. Who has a scouting report on Julio Goff? He wasn't on my radar before this year, but 15 Ks in 7.1 innings has got my attention.
  3. Some preliminary details on the financial aspects of the contract:
  4. Remember Shawn Wooten? Deja vu all over again.
  5. Bengie was signed as an undrafted free-agent--not an international signing--so not the same thing.
  6. Similarly, player salaries are not paid when there is a labor dispute related lock-out.
  7. To clarify, based on predicted runs scored/runs allowed differential, Ohtaniland nailed it. Beatlesrule was excellent on the runs scored prediction, but had room to improve on the runs allowed prediction. But kudos to both.
  8. I believe he can be signed immediately. If a player is "registered," he is eligible to be signed starting July 2. To register, the player must be 16 or will be 16 by September 1.
  9. Nope, TBW has Turang going at #29 to Cleveland. I understand this is only a mock draft, but in the scenario presented, Turang is available.
  10. I was under the impression that the name is Syrian (or middle-eastern) for "the deaf."
  11. I have the same question regarding Oliver Ortega. I don't believe he pitched last year but has two starts at Burlington this year with no runs allowed. WHIP of 0.44.
  12. Alas, you neglected to include: Michael Clevinger (traded for Vinnie Pestano) '18 with CLE: 7G, 42.3 IP, 2.76 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 14 BB, 39 SO.
  13. I could see Ohtani being used as a pinch-runner on one of his "off" days. Suppose it's a tie game and AP leads off the ninth with a BH.
  14. This only works if Richards is open to an extension on reasonable terms. If he wants a 5 yr/$125M deal, then no. If he would agree to a 4 yr. deal in the neighborhood of $60-$80M, I would definitely consider it.
  15. "Contreras signed with the Angels after the Major League Baseball-imposed Jan. 15 deadline, thus receiving no additional bonus on top of the $1.2 million deal he signed with Atlanta in 2016.' https://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/minor-league-transactions-feb-23-march-2-2018/
