How in the world am I wrong? There's no way that we'll have across the board certainly on all cases.

Yeah, I'm not sure what he's holding onto here. The only way Louf can believe you're wrong is if he didn't follow along and then stripped your quote from its context... perhaps unintentionally.

You do realize the VA tech shooter killed over 30 with a 9mm and .22 caliber handguns. Ban all semi autos? So just legislates gun’s away?

They've tried like hell to legislate abortion away at both the state and federal level.  Oftentimes people don't want others having access to things they aren't comfortable with.

Mexico isn't a developed country. They have a badly corrupted government that's at war with the cartel . That might have something to do with it.

Lou was correct in stating that it didn't include every country.

Regardless, the countries listed outpopulate us by a considerable amount but yet the tally isn't even close. The common denominator is gun control. This is irrefutable.

They should be doing that for more than just the gun lobby. First they'd have to define "assault weapon". Would you be OK with special permits to purchase said assault weapons? What if banning these does not stop mass shootings? What then?

I don't agree with everything that's been proposed to curb some of the violence but you're asking the wrong questions. We will probably never "stop" every potential mass shooting from occurring. The bar you set is pretty much impossible to reach in this country. The question should be what can we do to reduce the number with sensible action. Enhanced background checks for every gun purchase is a good first step. Most reasonable gun owners are on board with that.

this is a shockingly horrifying message from the president.  Even for Trump.

Apparently he watched Fox News all day yesterday and tweeted some of their far-right talking points, including this one. He's not happy about the indictments.

It's a shame that there isn't an additional, more moderate right-wing news channel in the mainstream. Fox News, for the most part (although not entirely), is more batshit crazy than it's ever been in spreading propaganda, and that's obviously saying something. If they're not floating conspiracy theories, they're over-reaching or conflating completely separate issues, as seen in the above tweet.

So, none of these school shootings would have been prevented, Trump or no Trump.

Agreed, in this instance, that wasn't in question.

I personally would like to see a ban on assault weapons, but if not that then at the very least, I think the minimum age for purchase should be 21, as it is with handguns.

    How so?

The executive order made it easier for the mentally ill who are receiving Social Security checks because of their condition, and who are not mentally fit to handle their own finances, to get a gun. After taking a quick look, I can't say for certain whether or not they would have already had their due process.

And what does "meddled in our election" mean?

You can say the French media meddled in our election by posting anti Trump cartoons.

That means zero without some context.

    Some context, then:

    http://time.com/5163141/robert-muellers-russia-indictments-election-interference/

Thirteen Russians and three Russian companies were charged Friday with an elaborate plot to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election through social media propaganda aimed at helping Republican Donald Trump and harming the prospects of his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, prosecutors announced Friday.

The indictment, brought by the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, represents the most direct allegation to date of illegal Russian meddling during the election. It says Russians created bogus Internet postings, posed online as American political activists and fraudulently purchased advertisements — all with the goal of swaying political opinion during the bitterly contested race.

The intent of the meddling, the indictment says, was to “sow discord in the U.S. political system, including the 2016 presidential election.”

A lot of people will refuse to deal with their mental illness because of the negative stigma and labels they may get. In our society they are looked down on. Your argument sort of proves it. If a person is diagnosed with a mental illness that frequently causes the person to be violent then yes, they should not have a gun but they still need to have their due process (yes I'm stuck on constitutional rights too). The bottom line is we aren't doing enough to for the mentally ill in this country and way to many of them do slip through the cracks. That has to change

Trump's executive order made it easier for some who are mentally ill to avoid the process you suggested.

I disagree with Rand Paul on almost everything except a few of his foreign policy positions.  I respect the guy for walking the walk.

Now the GOP is going to destroy him.

Aside from his position on state rights, which I don't think makes him much of a libertarian despite what some may think (from what I understand, he doesn't claim to be one), he's also pretty good on Criminal Justice Reform.

And yeah, he's not a total hypocrite.
