  1. Not to nitpick but he is 30 and will be on opening day. We traded our fourth outfielder and got a serviceable third baseman. I'm ok with it. I highly doubt there were better offers out there, if there were, my guess is he would have taken one of those better offers.

We traded our starting CF not our 4th OF

  2. Ok, that is your opinion but it has no factual basis behind it. Considering the Angels had to include a minor league player means there were scales to be balanced on both sides.

there's plenty of factual basis behind it which has been discussed here several times.

both teams essentially gave up a minor league player.

  3. Ok fine. He played well then got hurt. Calhoun also showed that he's more than competent, so where are you going to put bourjos, assuming you keep Calhoun? There was no room for him on this team. We don't know how the other 29 teams saw him in value, so this very well couldve been the most teams were willing to give up

I don't put Calhoun above Bourjos at this point, so if both are on the team, Bourjos gets more playing time as the higher overall value to the team. Like I said before, if you're not going to get a like value in return, and I think anyone trying to argue we did in this case comes up well short, then don't trade him now. You especially don't jump into an early trade season deal if your return is poor. This is a bad deal.

  4. I don't know what pagr I'm on, but I agree with grichuk/salas part being an eyebrow raiser. I liked bourjos too, but people need to get off his dick. Sure he had a solid 11, but that was two years ago. How do we know they're trading him while his value is "low", do you have confidence he could've rebuilt it on this team?

    Children please

why couldn't he? Did you see how well he was doing before he hit the DL? Bourjos can play. He's a very good player that has a much higher long term value than what we got in return.

  5. Meh, It's not a bad deal for either team. Grichuk is not some type of uber-prospect from what i gather.. He can't take a walk to save his life, and his upside might be a 4th OF who can PH vs lefties. Thinking he's some trade-chip that was wasted that could have gotten David Price or another ace is clueless.

Petey was the Angels 4th OFer. He was traded for a starting 3B, which was needed. They both have one really good year mixed in with some meh years and a bunch of injury-riddles years.

It's kinda a wash, IMO. It makes sense for both sides, which is why, of course, they actually completed the deal.

    except PB wasn't a 4th OF.

  6. uh huh you realized you just outlined why this wasnt a bad deal. right?

and what did we lose here that affects possible tades for a SP? Grichuck might have been a nice throw in but the center peice of any deal for a SP wil be Kendrick or Trumbo so.. again, one deal into the off season and everyone is losign their friggin minds thingking off season over when we are better today than yeesterday.

    LOL! no I didn't.

  7. NAME ONE TIME I SAID 3B WAS OUR PRIORITY THIS SEASON?

What I said was we upgraded a spot and dealt a player who most likely wouldn't have a spot in the starting lineup with Calhoun around.

NO CHUCK, YOU SAID WE WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING INTO THE SEASON WITHOUT A 3B WHICH IS PATENTLY FALSE!

We traded low to marginally upgrade a spot that wasn't a priority. We did not get the value end of this deal.

  8. 3B has been a problem for years now.

oh and by definition, when you say "we dont have great options there", that means it IS a priority.

If you guys legitimately think Borjous was going to get us anything of real value in the Starting Pitcher market, you are over valuing.

no flop, it isn't a priority. We have a defensive option there that isn't a great offensive option. But offense isn't our big need on this team so replacing that defensive specialist 3B with a mediocre 3B with better offense isn't a priority move.

Oh, and I don't think anyone here is claiming Bourjos would have netted us a real valuable SP.

  9. you would play him over Calhoun?  i wouldnt, the number suggest we shouldnt so.. unless you mena he was 5th or worse, please tell me why you think he should start and who you would bench?

Given the assumption that Pujols is the starting 1B, which he claims to be healthy, that puts Trumbo at DH, with an OF of Hamilton, Trout, and Calhoun.. none of which i would play Borjoud over at this time.

Damn straight I would. He's a better defender with a good bat when healthy. I would absolutely put him out there over Calhoun.

  10. and go into the season without a 3B?

We upgraded a position from a position of strength.

oh puleese Chuck. 3B is not a big problem here. We don't have great options there right now, but that is low on the priority list. Offense is NOT the issue this team needs to address. We made a marginal upgrade in a position that wasn't critical while trading low on a very good player.

  11. That's the kind of reaction we're getting today. What people don't know is that Bourjos was not going to net us a quality arm. Period. He was NOT going to net us a 3B better than Freese either. Sorry, but Jimenez showed decent D at 3B this past season, but his plate discipline was shit and his BA/OBP went in the shitter once opposing pitchers exposed his inability to hit the breaking ball.

Then don't f'ing trade him now if you're not going to get a like valued return. It's a stupid move plain and simple.
