  1. Calhoun's only minor league season with an OPS below .900 was in AAA after skipping AA, and it was .877. I sure hope the Angels don't trade him if he is undervalued on the market.
  2. Unless you're playing in for a bunt the balls come at you just as hard at 1B as they do at 3B, when a lefty is up. The biggest difference is having to throw, and he has a good arm, but he might take too long to throw which could be a problem. Even if the chances of it working out are almost none, I'd be fine with him getting some time there since we're just using a stopgap otherwise for the rest of the year.
  3. I didn't look far back enough to notice that, but yeah you're right. I still stand by my argument that you can't blame the GM for signing a guy who has had 4 years in a row with 70 games with no problems.
  4. Oh, I forgot about that. Either way, that's not a major surgery and he has pitched it 70 games every full year in the bigs.Nothing indicated he would miss significant time.
  5. Maybe next we should hire a GM that has a magic 8 ball to see into the future. Seriously, how the hell do you blame this on Dipoto? Burnett had no injury history.
  6. Trade a guy who has a 1.047 OPS this year for a guy who has a 5.22 ERA? Lol... even accounting for it being AAA that doesn't seem like a good deal for the Angels.
  7. He's be fine for the back end of the rotation, better than Hanson and Blanton.
  8. We all have our opinions I guess, but it's like hating on the pitching coach when a pitcher does poorly and then he gets canned regardless of his performance, but only to be a scapegoat. We have no idea as fans what is going on and can't accurately evaluate the situation.
  9. At the time the only moves of his that I disagreed with were 1) Trading 6 years of Segura for a rental which you don't even get a comp pick for anymore and 2) Paying Blanton that much, although I didn't think he would do this bad. I don't blame him that much. Even if Pujols and Hamilton signings are not good value wise, both players should be doing a lot better than this and I don't blame him for that.
  10. One of Calhoun, Trumbo, or Bourjos will be gone before 2014. A lot will probably depend on what they get in return. Calhoun is probably the most undervalued on the trade market, unless he does well for the rest of this year. I wouldn't do this trade without something else included from the Yankees, either a reliever or a prospect.
  11. This. If Pujols is healthy with a .850-900 OPS, and Hamilton hit with about a .850 OPS even, then this team would only be a few games back. Not to mention if they had a serviceable 5th starter. They've also had more than their fair share of injuries.
  12. Yeah, I know. I just hope the Angels don't blow up the team. I think they can compete for the next few years if a few things go right, such as Pujols getting healthy and Hamilton playing like he should.
  13. Why would we trade Aybar without a replacement?
  14. In and of itself it isn't a bad stat. I would look at the ratio of solo HR to HR with runners on.
  15. It's too easy to time his pitches when everything is within 5 mph
  16. I never thought it happens in sports but not long ago an NHL player retired and gave up 77 million on a contract because he wanted to go back to Russia to be with his family. As we know Pujols is a family person. Not saying by any means it's likely to happen, but it's possible. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/22722800/ilya-kovalchuk-announces-retirement
  17. He's a guy in awful shape that is maintaining his velocity into his 40's. Supplements can help with gaining weight.
