The way he described the strength tests, they are done when he raises his arm with his elbow at a right angle (like when you're taking an oath) and then he pushes backward. They measure the force he can exert, relative to the baseline measurement they took in spring training.

Also, I was off yesterday, but I made note of the fact that Frostad told the reporters there that Ward was at 65-70 percent of his baseline strength on Friday. On Thursday it was 60 percent. On Tuesday it was 50 percent. They said he can start to throw at 80 percent.

If it's a stinger in his neck/shoulder, that would make sense that it pinches and affects strength when your raise your arm, but not when you lower it. So that's how he can hit, but not throw.

Thank you for the update.  One question: Is Frostad related to Erstad?

    I'm trying to be.

But I like Jason and I have never had issues having calm and reasonable discussions with him. You're just being a butt face.

I like him too.  I have lots of stupid friends.  Doesn’t mean I don’t tell them they’re stupid.

Has anyone here ever encountered an intruder in their home?

I did when I lived on the peninsula.  I got home from the bars and dude was in my kitchen.  I told him to get the fuck out and I was calling the cops.  I didn’t feel a need to shoot him.

I know you're a responsible gun owner. I think you take your daughter to the range? That's cool. Teach them early so they know how to protect themselves and also understand the safety required to handle a firearm.

Dude, I know you try to be tolerant and understanding but don’t encourage him.  Anything less than shaming him for being a moron is unacceptable.

  5. I can only imagine the ego stroking some of your poor wives must have to do on a daily basis just.  It must get fucking exhausting.

I mean, my wife has her own shit she has to deal with with me but my god at least she doesn’t have to tell I’m a big, bad motherfucker daily else I become the next movie theater shooter.

There just seems like there are so many negative trade offs.  What if you make a mistake and shoot the wrong person ?  What if a child or someone else who isn’t supposed to have access to the gun somehow gets a hold of it ?  These things probably happen more often then a legitimate self defense use.  Just seems like a lot of bad other possibilities for what is unquestionably an extremely unlikely use case.

With the amount of home invasions happening to white people in suburbia these days by evil minorities, you take the risk of blowing away one of your kids or your wife getting depressed and offing herself.  These are the trade-offs for being born a fucking dipshit.

"The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," the former President said.’

What is so disgusting about Trump is that he doesn’t a believe a word of the shit he says.  If he has any political beliefs he’s essentially a democrat but at some point him and his family decided that the Christian Right we’re the easiest pickens in the political game to manipulate for the sole purpose of acquiring and maintaining generational wealth.

And I could lament that some of you here don’t see it or worse, bought it hook, line and sinker, but that’s the whole point.  Criticize him for most things but the man knows a grift.  Like bigly.

Disagree. Looked like his hand touched the plate at the same moment the tag touched him.

That's been a call upheld all fucking season.

That’s what bothers me.  It seems like when it happens the other way it gets upheld because not enough evidence to overturn.

Ok fine, that’s the standard.  But sometimes, and usually when it’s the Angels, the reviewing umps go with what they ‘think’ the outcome is, not what the review shows.

I’m 99% sure there is not an anti-Angels bias so the other explanations are my personal perception bias, which is possible but since there is inconsistency I don’t think that it.

The only other explanation is that you essentially have the umpire version of jury nullification.  Some umps know the standard and follow the standard, regardless of personal feelings of what the “right” call should have been.  But some don’t care there is a standard and are voting for what they think the correct call should have been.  And what that leads to is inconsistency in challenges and replay which causes the anti-Angel perception.

    That’s my take.

What Do Most Mass Shooters Have in Common? They Bought Their Guns Legally.

"From 1966 to 2019, 77 percent of mass shooters obtained the weapons they used in their crimes through legal purchases, according to a comprehensive survey of law enforcement data, academic papers and news accounts compiled by the National Institute of Justice, the research wing of the Justice Department."

“The reality in this country right now, is that anyone who wants to cause harm to themselves, or do someone else harm, can easily acquire the means to do so — legally,” said Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter, Jaime, was killed in the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., in 2018.

“Based on what we know about Buffalo, the system seems to have been followed, but the problem is with the system itself,” he added. “The reality of life in America, the big problem, is that these people don’t have to jump through enough hurdles to get a gun.”

I would assume most illegally bought guns are by minority criminals who are doing it to commit property crimes, gang crimes and for their own safety, not murder 2 dozen elementary school kids. Say what you will about thiefs, thugs and gangsters but they generally aren’t shooting up movie theaters or schools because daddy left and mommy is too overbearing or too absent.
