Not the Royals. They’re paying all their minor leaguers. I don’t think the Angels have said whether or not they’re going to continue to pay them yet. After seeing the backlash the A’s and Nationals got, I can’t imagine them not.

Extremely disappointed in how Arte has been handling this.

I didn’t want to seem like a homer so I asked myself who I would choose if the Angels weren’t an option.
Im not sure how nobody voted for Freeman/Acuña

Who are you willing to trade for pitching?
Anyone not named Adell. I’d hate to lose Marsh, but if it got us a true #1, then I’m not too butthurt. I’m open to trading Simmons if we end up signing Rendon.

OK, slept on it, nothing has really changed. We can still get some good arms, but probably not the ace we want and I for one am not wild about taking on someone elses cast off (see David Price) unless the deal benefits us in some other way.
I think this is a good article from Alden Gonzales although i dont think it quite goes far enough, https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28272124. In that article he mentions 3 options, give me #2 (or some variation on it) all day long. #1 doesnt do enough, and #3 would likely gut the farm, #2 makes a ton of sense even with other names penciled in.
Any crazy trade the farm for an ace ideas are to me counter productive and make little sense so im not looking at any of those at all. We are going to need a more balanced attack that isnt relying on pitching at this point, and allow the kids we have to become the help we need.
Right now, in my view we still need 1-2 SP, and 1-2 bats. The solution in three steps:
#1 Try to sign 2 of the remaining SP. The list includes Madbum, Ryu, Keuchel, Teheran, Hamels, Miley, Roark, No there isnt a lot of sexyness there, but there is a lot of durable innings eaters which is what this club needs.
#2 Sign Rendon or Donaldson.
#3 Make the trade for Contreras. Or expand it to try to get Bryant and or Darvish/Chatwoood and skip step 2 above.
Bottom line here is that there are still all kinds of combinations out there, it just means Eppler is going to have to work for it.Hamels already signed

I think people are underestimating MadBum. He’s cheaper and he’s a workhorse. Also, he’s extremely clutch. Yes, the away splits are a little worrisome the last two years, but before that he was just as good on the road as he was at home. I say we sign MadBum and Walker (easy buy low candidate) and then trade for a front line starter.

And they’re giving us cash and a PTBNL? Remember sometimes we strike gold with PTBNL...
-
Hmmmmmmmm. Sign Cole+Rendon, trade Simmons+Marsh for a pitcher and move Fletcher to SS?

But you have Billy Sims and Rib Crib. There were two more BBQ joints I liked in desolate meth ridden areas, but these two around Moore/ OKC were great. Norman had a good one as did Tulsa and Stillwater when I was next to the campus, but different parts of the map.
I’ll take Vans Pig Stand over those any day of the week! Rib Crib has really just gone way down in quality.

I read a few different sources rumoring Turner to 1b and muncy to 2b and lux/seager/pederson trade for lindor.
I don’t know why they’d want 2 SS unless they’re going to move Lux to 2B. Even then I’d probably save either Lux or Seager for a separate trade package somewhere else if I’m the Dodgers. I live in OKC so I got season tickets to see the OKC Dodgers here (I know, fuck the Dodgers but baseball is baseball and it’s all I got) and Lux is an absolute monster. They’ve got a lot of positional talent on that team.

Fuck that wife beater. Hope he never finds another job in baseball.

i will be ecstatic if the angels land stras or cole, but there is a strong side to me that believes that the angels would be better off landing wheeler, madbum, and hamels.
ultimately, it's really just going to come down to how much the angels are willing to spend this year. i've never really bought in to arte's "we'll spend for the right player" line because i never saw evidence of it. having said that, i do feel there is something different in the anaheim air. i do not expect them to come close to the luxury tax limit, although i wish they would at this particular time.
I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near Hamels. Nothing about him has screamed that he would be a good addition, other than name recognition. I would love MadBum but I worry a bit about the miles on that arm, but he is younger than Strasburg.

Omggggggg it’s already in the hot stove thread

I know it’s been brought up before, but I can’t believe MadBum is younger than Strasburg. Feels like he’s been around forever.

Strasburg opts out... let the Cole/Strasburg wet dreams begin...
I’ve already had to change my undies 3 times
but seriously though, while it would be pretty awesome, I don’t think it happens. I can see Strasburg going to San Diago though.

Makes you wonder why? Something is not right.
I’m pretty sure he’s pissed he didn’t get to come in and pitch after Greinke

Strasburg Soto or Rendon for MVP? I’m leaving Strasburg

Wow no way he went around

I bet we see Corbin soon

Angels minor league cuts

Nationals released 30. So many minor leaguers lost their jobs today, for what? So owners could save a couple grand? I still can’t believe anyone would be mad at the players in these negotiations.
