  1. Mickelson's irons game has been fabulous today. Four birdies on second shots within 3,6,8, and 9 feet of the hole. Six-under now. And as I type this, his tee shot on the par-3 13th goes haywire.
  2. Taking a look at Baseball Reference leaders, he's in the top ten in no less than 25 categories. I left out the strikeouts (he's 4th in that). He's leading in several of the important offensive stats. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/2014-batting-leaders.shtml
  3. Anyone have Phil on their team? He's -5 through ten holes at Quail Hollow.
  4. Dan Haren, 6.2 innings, 3 ER, in line for the win. Dodgers are leading the Twins, 8-4. Haren will be 4-0 if L.A. holds on.
  5. If Trumbo could be more selective and let some of those bad pitches go by, his batting average would improve. I think he likes to let it go and hit bombs, however. The high fastball is his weakness. In any event, his contribution to Arizona will be irrelevant unless they can improve their pitching.
  6. Much of Pensacola, Florida is under water. Five inches of rain fell in one hour last night. Southern California will be lucky to get five inches this entire year. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/deadly-tornado-outbreak/life-threatening-flooding-submerges-pensacola-florida-n93201
  7. Wind gusts of 80 mph! Incredible. Last time they had a wildfire here was 2003.
  8. The fire's in Rancho Cucamonga but the smoke is already thick here in Long Beach.
  9. Hot, windy, and smoky. Temperatures in the mid-90's. Nice...
  10. A good makeup job can do wonders. And Othello was a Moor. They were of mixed heritage, mostly Arab, and came from Morocco to Spain as early as the 8th century. Varying shades of black with all the intermixing over the centuries.
  11. He was a great Iago to Anthony Hopkins' Othello.
  12. Actually, he made a small adjustment in his stance. He had been crouching too low so he stood up a little more. Simple as that. Since then he's been on fire.
  13. In the interest of fairness: Scott Downs 0-2 6.00 ERA 1.889 WHIP
  14. 96 and still climbing here in uptown Long Beach. I'm sure it's a little cooler by the actual beach.
  15. 93 and climbing in Long Beach. Not only the allergies, but now the air conditioner in my car isn't working right.
  16. Clippers' players are going to be sky-high tonight. Look out, Golden State!
  17. Ervin Santana 3-0 1.95 ERA 31 SO, 5 BB 0.976 WHIP Dan Haren 3-0 2.03 ERA 27 SO, 4 BB K-Rod 12 Saves, 0.00 ERA, 15 IP, 22 SO, 4 BB LaTroy Hawkins 8 Saves, 2.61 ERA, 0.968 WHIP
  18. LaTroy Hawkins got his 8th save tonight. 41 years old.
  19. Yeah, I looked around and there are several sites discussing this phone number. It's not totally clear yet what's going on here. Some people are saying they are being asked to schedule appointments for preventive care like mammograms, colonoscopy and the like. It's an automated 'survey' of your state of health. I'm not giving any answers about my health (or any personal information) over the telephone to a robot at an 855 phone number. This smells. They also call at night and on Sundays. That's a red flag right there.
  20. Wow, our closer didn't give up a home run to the first batter!
  21. K-Rod with his 12th Save for Milwaukee. 15 innings pitched, 0 ER, 22 SO, 4 BB John Jay (Bourjos' competition in CF) goes 0-6. Randal Grichuk is 0-2 in his debut. Cardinals lose 5-3.
