  1. In 2011, Wells posted the lowest OBP in the history of the AL for an outfielder, .248. Minimum 502 plate appearances.
  2. "Ernie grooved a pitch or two there, and he's as disappointed as anyone over that. Butch will work with him in the bullpen and get things figured out. It's early in the season and pitchers are still settling in."
  3. Keeping our old pitching coach might have helped too.
  4. Jim Thome hit over 600 home runs, and with all due respect to him, one would never say he was a better hitter than Albert. Thome is also not a shoo-in for the HOF, although I personally think he'll make it eventually.
  5. If we fall 7 or 8 games back in this competitive division, we're finished for 2014. And now I hear that Scioscia will stay with Frieri as closer?! Very frustrating for this old-time fan.
  6. The only silver lining is that Oakland also has a bunch of blown saves.
  7. Blown save and blown game. Werth gets the green light. Smart managerial move.
  8. He's just completely lost it. Get him out of there, please.
  9. I can't watch anymore. I have to leave for work now anyway, so that's good.
  10. Wow, Langston's really laying into him right now. Good.
  11. Pitcher with control problems, you know Howie is hacking on the first pitch. Doesn't make sense, but maybe to him it does.
  12. They never called this before replay came in. Langston and Smith are talking about it right now.
  13. Aybar is such a hacker! When he's hot he's really good, but all that first-pitch swinging...
  14. Well, he changed into Decent Kohn in a hurry, and that was nice to see.
  15. The name is major-league worthy by itself!
  16. I didn't know we had a AAA club in Memphis. Oh, wait...
  17. Looks like Bad Kohn decided to show up at the ballpark tonight.
  18. Steve Finley, April of 2005: .149/.227/.322 And we know what happened to him. He got to play five more months.
  19. I'm giving him a pass until June. Last year he hit .163 in April. The next two months his line was .310/.379/.456.
  20. Our #5-9 hitters' batting averages: .219 .208 .131 .192 .000
