What is a short leash?  A team supervised instagram account?   No rough sex contract?

We have a Baseball Team.  We have needs.  We need to play over .500 ball.  We need a pitcher.  Sign him.  Let he who is without sin cast the first …… uhhhh …..pitch…or something like that 😂

    anyways…I’m just sayin 😂

Sure and are you going to get it through your thick skull that because of circumstance it doesn’t mean he is Minasian’s guy?  That because of circumstance that is who was brought back?  You ranted about “did he even interview anyone”.  You asked that because you were trying to prove he was Minasian’s guy.  It’s pretty ignorant to think that, you know, based on the circumstance.

Minasian had the chance last year to put “his guy” in.  And he has that chance again over the next couple of days…doesn’t he?

Why wouldn’t he want “his guy?”

Minasians job is on the line, too.

An interim manager who goes 46-60 morphs into “The second coming of Christ?”

    Pleeeeeease….

It’s not our decision.  Let’s see what he does.  He doubled down….will he triple down?

You’d like to see the ball club play at least .500 ball ….JUST LIKE ME.

It shouldn’t take EIGHT YEARS….should it?

I’m a fan.  That’s all.  I have no skin in the game.  But I can connect the dots.

Nevin has basically had 1 and 2/3rds seasons to show “something” ….and I’m not seeing it.  Are you? Really?

    Unless all along he’s been Minasian’s boy…..

Let’s leave this up to the powers that be.

Sometimes you’ve just “gotta trust the experts”

    😂😂😂

Yet you think Nevin was MInasians guy.  Also I one year extension to a first time manager, removing the interim tag, is completely different than signing a manager to a one year deal.  Show me the list of managers that have signed one year deals to go to a new club.  I’ll wait.

Case is closed.  No manager worth a damn would sign a one-year deal.  Are you rescinding that statement? And if they extend him….it’ll be for another one year deal.  So that will be two times a manager who isn’t worth a damn signed a one-year deal.

  4. 2 minutes ago, Stradling said:

Yea, you have no idea what you are talking about as it relates to Nevin, the sale of the team, and the restrictions placed on Minasian during the time the team was up for sale.  No manager worth a damn is taking a one year deal.  No team up for sale is giving out multi year deals to managers.

Well….to use your words “no manager worth a damn is taking a one-year deal”

    Exactly my point.

How long was the contract Nevin signed?

    one year …huh?

    😂😂😂😂

I didn't see that he claimed that it was unique or new. There are plenty of failed managers who did not communicate with their players other than to criticize them. One who comes to mind immediately is Bobby Valentine, who nearly triggered a player revolt in Boston.

It took Baltimore three years to turn a dumpster fire into the AL East champs….arguably the toughest division in baseball.

They did this with one of, if not the lowest payrolls in baseball.

    It’s been what? EIGHT YEARS?

It shouldn’t take close to a decade to play over .500 ball.

Should it?  You think he’s got them on the right track? Really?

    Playing .500 ball

I still say Minasian hand picked his ass.  He had all kinds of time last year at the end of the season to interview.  Did he even interview anyone?  If he didn’t …then that was his guy.

Nevin got an extension on the last day of the season of 2022.

Don’t tell me “Minassin had to extend him” or “because the team was up for sale” or blah blah blah.

Ohtani was healthy….Trout was due back.   Things were looking bright at the end of last season for 2023.  Weren’t they?

As bad as we’ve been….managing the 2023 Angel squad was a very very attractive job at the end of last season.

Even if the team was sold….if the manager had the needle pointing in the right direction new ownership would probably give the manager a nod of approval and a “show me” one year deal.

Minasian still had two years on HIS contract….and he still had a responsibility regardless of who owned the team to do “what was best for the team”

    So he extended Nevin 😂😂😂

You get what you pay for….

    😂😂😂😂

It’s been Eight Years since the team has played .500 ball.  I’m not even asking for a playoff spot.  Is .500 ball too much to ask for?

Why don’t you give Nevin ten years for 100 million?  There’s ball clubs out there lined up outside the door to acquire his services 😂😂😂

I get it….he’s “just a few years away” right?

    You’re drinking the kool-ade dude…

  6. Perry has had his hand-picked manager.  Nevin.  It didn’t work out.  Nevin gets fired by the Yankees and ends up out here ….Madden gets blown out and Nevin acts like he just won “The Clearinghouse Sweepstakes” as the new manager of the Angels 😂 calls his pal Brett Boone crying on the phone “OMG they’ve selected me! I can’t believe it!”

    😂😂😂

it’s long overdue to move on ….

You “friends of Phil” need to let it go.  It didn’t work out.  No “fan” of the ball club would defend this guy.

    family or drinking buds….yeah probably…..

Players aren’t gonna talk any trash about him or they’re gonna be out of a job.  So take whatever the players say with a grain of salt.

Last I checked this is a results oriented business.  You’re a manager and get dealt lemons….you find a way to turn it into lemonade.

I’m sure he’s a wonderful guy. But it hasn’t worked out.

I'll bet that a lot of players feel the same way, although they would never openly voice it. Ohtani decides that he will do this and won't do that, and it all affects multiple players.

    Don’t get me wrong….I love Ohtani….

However ….the tail is definitely wagging the dog.

Teammates won’t openly voice it….but more than a few are most likely saying to themselves “WTF?”

  8. Nevin acknowledged that all of this drama surrounding Ohtani’s sore oblique is frustrating and confusing for fans.

“I know fans come to see him, especially when we’re at home,” Nevin said. “I get that frustration. Absolutely.”

What about the frustration of getting our asses kicked every year?

I guess that’s not on the menu.

Take a look at the Red Sox, who recently fired Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom and what they had to say about their situation in Boston.

"The decision was not made lightly or easily," team president and CEO Sam Kennedy read from a prepared statement before his news conference. "We all know where we are in the standings. It's a painful reality that fans feel as deeply as we do. Our fans deserve a winning, competitive team that consistently plays postseason baseball."

"It's hard to say it's not related to results because that's what this is all about," Kennedy said. "We're aiming for World Series championships. That's it. That's the aim, that's the goal. We're here to win World Series championships. While we're here, we're not going to waste this opportunity. That's what the Boston Red Sox are all about."

This is a far cry from what Nevin seems to “get.” And Minassian.

Not even a mention about the teams record.  No apologies to the fans for the product the Angels have put on the field.

Cry me a river about the injuries.  Whatever.

Can you see the differences between these two organizations and what is acceptable and what is unacceptable?

As I write this, the Red Sox are 74-72 and heads are already starting to roll.

regnifo did the same thing last year when the season meant nothing...until he can show he can put up numbers when the games matter he is just an average player...

He may even be below average.  But damn does he get the most out of what God gave him?

The best ability is AVAILABILITY.  I don’t think he’s been injured one time the last two seasons.  And if he was, he didn’t go on the IL….

You can insert him in the lineup anywhere.

    He never bitches about anything.

He’s relatively cheap.  (See Rendon’s contract)

    He’s only 26.

Gimme nine Rengifo’s and the ballclub would play over .500 ball.

    Every season.

This ball club hasn’t done that in ten years.

Gifo has been one of the few bright spots the last couple of seasons.

Extend his contract and find a few more guys who play like he does.

And ya know what I like about him most?  He hits a home run (from either side of the plate) and he is in a full sprint!  He doesn’t stand there and watch it!

    hell yeah Rengifo!

    player of the week!

I'm surprised at how eager people are to point the finger at Arte, or Perry, or even Nevin for the failures of the team in August (and continuing into September).  Ultimately it was the players who completely shit the bed and way underperformed that they were capable of, and they need to bear most of the criticism and blame.  There's no excuse for them to play as poorly as they did after the trade deadline with the team we put together.  A truly epic failure on their part.

It all starts at the top….and whatever Nevin was selling, nobody was buying.

You’re a manager? You gotta get people to buy-in.

“There is no excuse for them to play as poorly as they did after the trade deadline with the team we put together”

There is no excuse.  But there is a reason.

    NO BUY IN

    Just sayin’

Fuck it…I’ll do it. Putting all your chips in on rentals was always stupid. Whether you’re going for it or not. We didn’t learn from reading Segura fro 2 months of Greinke? Clevenger? Anyone who actually watches these games know that philosophically and even on the field this team is a below average team.  Hell we called up our first rounder 6 weeks after he was drafted! At least give up the farm for Verlander or the likes of him. At least he has multiple years on his deal. This shows me two things. One, Minasian sucks. Two, Moreno will never get out of the way and have an exclusive baseball decision man. The singing cowboy is rolling over in his grave. 6 games back at the deadline and you make a million moves just praying it all works…when the same manager, hitting and pitching coach….and that sorry ass excuse for a third base coach are still there sucking ass. And the training staff….which obviously sucks. It’s not a coincidence this happens every year.

Yeah….but it doesn’t matter who we have on the field anymore if we keep getting out-coached

IMO its too early to tell on Nevin.   I don't think there is any compelling reason to fire him.  It doesn't make sense that "someone has to take the fall" for the season record, when any rationally thinking person knows that injuries and starting pitching are the main culprits.

The players are on record in supporting him, so he has the confidence of the clubhouse, which is important for any leader.

Like all managers who have to make tough calls with uncertain outcomes, not all of his decisions have worked out.  Only you and Strad are batting  1000% in hypothetical outcomes on suggested post game decisions.

I'd like to see what he can do with a relatively injury free season, or at least league average or better.    Then if he screws it up you can light my pitch fork too.

“Too early to tell on Nevin” 😂😂😂

”the players are on record supporting him” 😂😂😂 what are they gonna do? Say “this guy sucks” if that’s what they’re REALLY thinking.

He never was the answer.  He’s had time to show what he can do.  He’s failed….and I’d have to say he’s failed abysmally 😂😂😂😂
