  1. Ship Sandoval out for a change of scenery and get two starters at the deadline. Really need to.
  2. But Jeff Fletcher posted that our bullpen is basically unavailable this game. The matrix. Everything is run by metrics now.
  3. The bullpen matrix says our bullpen is too tired to work in this game much.
  4. Should have traded Sandoval in the offseason when his value was higher than ever will be.
  5. We needed something from Trout or Ohtani for more runs in the 2nd.
  6. It's a good thing the lineup is deep because the big boys still aren't producing with RISP enough.
  7. Ohtani struck out twice against a pitcher that's given up a 1.100 OPS to LHB this season. Baseball is funny!
  8. That's what, Moniak's 4th leadoff homer already this season? Dude loves leading off the game.
  9. Texas is insane. I feel like either their pitching or hitting will fade a bit as the season progresses - I can't see them continuing this run differential pace. They have still hit an absurd .310/.366/.508 team RISP in 860 PA. The Angels by comparison have 804 PA with RISP.
  10. Close games will always happen but this is when I fear at the end of the season Angels finish just short and us fans are thinking about games like the one we gave away to KC or losing 2 out of the 3 to the friggin Rockies.
  11. This exactly. I'm not opposed to Ward playing, but please, let's take him out of leadoff. I recall games like the one in St. Louis where he hit a 3 run homer hitting cleanup IIRC. He does better lower in the order. The thing I'm really looking at with Moniak is his BAbip. It's over .400, and the splits show that it's been consistently like that since he got called up. Yeah he strikes out a bunch, but there's room to fix those holes, and it seems like when he makes contact he hits it pretty hard usually.
  12. He's not helping the team's offensive production leading off. Wouldn't Drury or even Trout be better in that spot? Ward Batting 1st - 233 PA, .238/.313/.374 (not including 0-5 tonight) Batting 4th - 30 PA, .379/.400/.483 Batting 6th - 21 PA, .316/.333/.684 He's looked more comfortable in those RBI spots. Sure he's been terrible with RISP (9-54, .167), but it's not any better to be terrible with RISP in the leadoff spot. The bottom of the lineup has been getting on base a bit this year and Ward has ended a lot of rallies in that leadoff spot. And that avg with RISP is bound to go up anyway. Regardless I think Moniak should be getting a bulk of the playing time over Ward, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen as again tonight it was a righty pitching in Giolito. This team really sees something in Ward I guess. But he needs to get it together.
  13. None of the 5 walks thru 3 innings have scored. Kinda embarrassing. And yeah Ward sucks like I was saying earlier.
  14. For sure dude. Someone else in this thread literally called this lineup "absolute trash" which obviously isn't true, but I'm the one bitching as I'm delving into some numbers showing Ward isn't very good? For sure.
  15. Not as bad as Walsh? That's not saying much though! That's like if someone said "I sucked it up and ate a dinner that sucked but at least it wasn't dogshit"
  16. It would be nice if either Renfroe or gigaChad Wallach were hitting 5th but Nevin has some obsession with Ward. Taylor Ward is back to not looking very good and the guy gets 1 or 2 XBH per week MAX. Doesn't cut it high in the lineup. Ward last 7 days - .240/.269/.280/.549 Ward last 14 days - .261/.286/.391/.677 Ward last 365 days - .255/.324/.404/.728 Do you like that last line from your everyday LFer? On a contender? Pretty MEH if you ask me. I think that's what Ward is.
  17. Then who would play first? Trout is resting, so Moniak needs to be in CF, so Renfroe needs to be in RF, so options for 1B with Trout resting are pretty limited. Drury or Rengifo would need to play 2B, but we pick Drury, so Moose is the only guy for 1B. We don't need Moose at 3B, we have Escobar for that even without Rendon.
  18. It's good the Sox handed this away. This team does not know how to approach situational hitting where you don't need to be swinging for the fences.
  19. I don't believe in this. I hope the bats don't play easy for the rest of the game. This is a chance for the lineup to catch fire and stay on fire.
  20. The bats seem to go off when Canning pitches... wow. Can they ever hit like this for Detmers?
