The broadcast just compared Ohtani to A-Rod at the plate and Clemens on the mound. Nah guys, nah.

Do we need him back? I don't think so. Not for the money it will take.

Ohtani and "ace" don't even belong in the same breath. He has never pitched like an ace for an extended period of time.

I see everyone talking about Walsh's defense. First base isn't a high-priority defensive position. If they play great D at first then great, but when the position requires mostly receiving throws, it's better to have a first baseman that mashes.

It makes the notion that Ohtani should be on a championship team laughable.

Do they have a 60-40 run in them? That puts them at 92 wins, possibly enough to sneak in by WC. I love what this team has the potential to do. But they really need to clean up the mental mistakes to pull off this type of run. To avoid becoming sellers at the deadline I believe the Angels need to play at the very least 10 games over .500 from now until then to stay in it. Do they have it in them? Texas only needs to go 55-47 for 95 wins. Yikes. They will surely regress, but they've put themselves in an amazing position.

I said it was a horrible signing on day 1. Angels always go for these starters with big money but not quite big enough for an ace. So they throw middle of the pack money $13M per year for a replacement level starter after one outlier year.

It'll hurt them when Heaney starts pitching like Heaney and Eovaldi stops pitching like an ace because he isn't one.

Silver linings - Winning today only puts us 2 more games behind Houston instead of 4 behind since the start of the series. Canning continues to pitch well.

Relief pitching wasn't the problem in this game. Loup will get DFA'd bullpen is fine. What's not fine and what lost the game tonight was the fucking piss poor hitting with runners on base. And the ball Urshela should have fielded. And the 0-2 hits Detmers gave up back to back. Just garbage baseball tonight again from this team.

Joyce only threw 10 pitches. Could have just sent Joyce back out. Or a variety of better options than Loup there. So annoying.

If Ohtani leaves just ask Trout if he wants to go somewhere else too and do a proper rebuild for once.

Angels have had the lead in a huge percentage of the games this season and ended up losing a bunch of them. Tonight will be another one of them. Blame pitching performances like Detmers tonight, bad fundamental baseball, and a monkey brain approach in high pressure situations.

Ohtani and Trout can look themselves right in the mirror as a reason why this team isn't in 1st. They crumble in big moments.

That's 3 failures tonight with the bases loaded - Ohtani what the heck are you swinging at, Ward gets screwed, Trout doesn't come through as usual.

I'm bumping this because tired of watching Walsh already and this team has been urgent this year on replacing players that aren't producing. When Rendon is back the right move has to be Urshela to 1B everyday. Walsh on the bench.
