    Lester is a very good pitcher, but if you're team expects to compete for a playoff spot I would expect the offense to be able to at least get a few solid hits at least off of him. He's not Arrieta.

    eh, 3 runs in 5 innings against the best pitcher in baseball is giving the game away. He was facing the best lineup in baseball though so can't really knock him.

    He has been on his game tonight. Would it kill the dude to do a little research and tell us an interesting story or two about the players rather than just stating the obvious and telling us what we're seeing.

    This is gonna be a disaster if this team allows him to be in the starting rotation, just going to embarrass himself.

    So the likely outcome of our best prospect is he's a backup C. And we took that dude 1st round. My god the future is bleak.

    And he continued to gut the farm system in the offseason, nothing like the Royals or Astros. Trout is not going to fill the seats alone; this team is just wasting his prime.

    His fastball was 78mph. Unless he magically gains 8 mph, he is doomed to fail.

    How exactly do you sort out gaining 10 mph on your fastball? This isn't a mechanics issue, a command issue, or a control issue.

    This is exactly why you don't trade one of these young arms for some garbage LF. Can't count on Weaver or Wilson and without them we have six solid SPs, exactly what you need to start a season.

    This all comes down to if you subscribe to the basketball way of treating your great players or the football way. Basketball does a giant farewell tour, wastes a season and destroys the development of young players just to appease a franchise player and football cuts your ass. I love Weaver but he's done. Needs to be the mop up man at best.

    According to everyone in our front office and everyone covering the team including Rodgey Lodgey, the Nava/Gentry platoon is all but guaranteed a .280/.340/.400 line so I'm not sure how this is an upgrade.

    If you were out of the country and read this for the first time you'd think he must have at least upgraded the pitching but he actually hasn't even added a MLB arm. Unreal.

    Agreed. I think Arte is realizing after years of spending, trying to win big, and it not working out he can probably still profit without putting out a winning product.
