  1. You guys don't understand, this is a short baseball post.......
  2. Actually I don't think any of the things you guys have been discussing are Arte's biggest problem. I think he made a mistake by not discussing publicly his decision making. The man is most likely far smarter than many of you give him credit for. But he will never get any empathy from the fan base if he doesn't open up more about the decisions he has made, admit some were mistakes he didn't see coming, and does not make a attempt to publicly explain himself. Public communication isn't his strong suit, never was and never probably will be. So the void gets filled by many Debbie Downers, and Conspiracy Theorists. In his earlier days he was much more communicative. Some of it got misinterpreted, and he seems to have soured on the idea of stepping up now and changing his stance of letting his employees speak for themselves. Really that's his prerogative, he can do whatever he wants as the owner, just as much as you can do whatever you want with the things that you own. I would love to hear more directly from him of his beliefs regarding his baseball ownership, what motivates him to keep moving forward with it, and so forth. Maybe he will write a book someday about it, if and when he moves on, but I kind of doubt it. About the one biggest upside from a possible new owner would be that he/she might be more communicative about their plans and objectives. It's rather interesting that when posters on here talk about new owners it immediately turns to "how wealthy is the possible new owner", and will they actually spend unlimited funds from their personal wealth to make it success happen regardless of what what it might mean to them personally. If they are going to be a team owner, they will all be involved in one way or another just like all the other owners. It would seem more useful to me is to ask "what can they bring to the table" to achieve success in decision making in baseball.
  3. At this point I think I would prefer an experienced manager like Buck vs. a younger guy who hasn't been an MLB manager before. I don't think it's a good time to experiment. If this was a total rebuild I might think differently.
  4. First of all, why do the other owners care about how Arte handles his ownership position of the Angels. He and his team may be inept at making decisions about how to produce winning results on the field, but he isn't doing anything that is against MLB policy, so there is no reason for them to force a sale. If you would listen to the AngelsWin podcasts, it is rather apparent that Arte cares a great deal about the team and winning, his past decisions may not have been all have been productive but he actually does "give a shit." I think that's what keeps him going as an owner, he put his heart into it, and he would like to find success at some point, and that is why he doesn't ever want to rebuild from scratch, he feels he is closer than he actually is to winning. It's too bad you feel inconvenienced. It's an unforgiving sport, and extremely competitive. A lot of patience is required. There is no guarantee that a new owner would do better, and they could make it worse. Right now, a lot of teams would like to sign Ohtani for various reasons, so I see a surge of press articles about how poorly the Angles are run, and I don't trust the motive behind many of them as it's a way of influencing Ohtani indirectly to sign elsewhere since they can't discuss it with him directly at this point in the offseason. I've been a fan since 1978, as have many other on here and some even much longer than me. I don't currently have season tickets, but I was a season seat holder for many years. I will always be a fan until my death. It was glorious and completely out of the blue when the 2002 season came to be. There have been many other disappointing seasons, and the competition is always fierce. It requires a lot of patience, luck and dedication to make it to the finish line. But when it happens it's great, and something that you never forget in all its wonderful detail.
  5. Thanks guys for all of the podcasts this year, they were are all interesting and I listened to all of them! Hope you can continue to do some more this Fall and Winter as interesting news happens on the Angels front. It could be a wild offseason.
  6. How do you know he doesn't "give a shit?" I don't think that is true factually. But that is my opinion. And only you can answer the question of whether you should continue to buy season tickets, why is that something you need to share.
  7. Anyone know when Minasian is speaking tomorrow? Is Bally's covering the press conference?
  8. Since Nevin is gone, get rid of all the coaches as well. Might as well start with a clean slate. And dump the training staff, start over from scratch. Above all please don't cheap out on anything Arte! Don't get a rookie MLB manager, get someone with experience and who has a track record of success.
  9. I'm sure he didn't want to fail here, the blame is acquiring him the first place. It's become a bit of a speed game when acquiring relievers anymore, and Loup didn't have it. He's a bit of a fossil.
  10. It would be cool to win two three from a really strong contending team. Also nice to see Cron back, even if for just a few games.
  11. Really nice podcast guys, enjoyed your takes!
  12. That bottom of the ninth was amazing! If Walsh and and a much stronger Phillips can come back next year, that's a big plus! That would be like hitting rock bottom and rebounding. Finish this off Angels.
  13. The real question is do you want all $40 million plus eggs in one basket, or do you want 4 baskets of $10 million eggs. Do you want to consolidate the risk, or dilute it by spreading it out. If you want to dilute the risk we could get an outfielder, and three different pitchers. If one or two of the four go down, you don't lose $40 + million eggs. Or here is a novel idea, put $40 million + in the egg farm and when the chicks hatch watch it bloom and go crazy. On the other hand do we trust the farmers?
  14. What exactly would you want him to say, it's a case of a manager being out of reasonable players to even fill a basic lineup card. It's totally ridiculous! The most effective tool for handling a situation like this year would have been to strengthen and provide even more depth throughout the farm system, but that can not happen overnight, it takes years and it's like dragging a tank behind a Jeep, very slow going with lots of ups and downs.
