  1. Moniak has contributed defensively, O'Hoppe is probably overwhelmed by the pitching problems, and Moustakas is a needed leader for now, and unfortunately he is not an everyday player anymore.. Tonight is in Detmers hands, nothing good will happen if he doesn't step up. Sounds like the ingredients of a win to me.
  2. Some of you guys are way over the top when it comes to complaining. You tend to take partial factual evidence then turn into something that has no credibility. That's the nature of social media today. Listen to the latest podcast from Victor, Jeff and Chuck, it's right on the mark. All off us are fans, we have no real evidence to seriously advise anyone even in this organization. If you want to continually degrade the decision makers in the Angels organization have at it, it's a country of free speech, especially on social media. But there comes a point when you have to realize that we are outsiders without the factually based expertise to provide credible answers to underachievement. Over the years we have been observers to underachievement, that's baseball for all teams. I think it's better to look for the positives, have some fun, and roll with it. If someone told me the future will be that the Angels will never go to the playoffs again, I'll still be a fan, watch games on TV, and go to some games as well. I've said this before, it's like reading a book, and many good books don't end positively. The fun is in the details, don't be young and old bitter persons.
  3. I don't think they are wearing numbers Tank, they are "advisers." They were wearing Angels sweatshirts, and hats. Advisers don't make decisions like managers or coaches do. From what I saw tonight that seems to be the case.
  4. It's not rocket science, players under 30 can avoid injury for the most part, and rack up impressive stats. Over 30 watch out. The best way to win is through scouting and development. Get them to the majors as quickly as possible while the players are still valuable. The financial situation is baseball is pretty screwed up, it certainly is not pay for current performance, it's more like pay for what you midyears ago in the hope that you will find it again. However, aging athletes incur injuries at a higher rate, and it doesn't matter how experienced you are you become handicapped to perform. There a very few exceptions. I often wonder if the Angels limit the player on the 40 man roster over 30 to 3 or 4 players how would they perform. You just need a few clear leaders, todays under 30 players are stronger, healthier, and more say than ever.
  5. Great podcast, you guys really nailed it the topics you covered!
  6. I don't know his exact foot speed, but he seems a little slow. Don't you want someone leading off who can steal bases? This team has too few players with real speed already. I thought the Cincinnati series showed us what real speed can do. Schanuel is a really unique player from what he has shown us so far, I'm just not convinced he is the ideal lead off hitter. I understand they are trying different things right now with players to see how they perform, there is nothing to lose in doing so. Right now it's probably the least of the team's problems. The pitching and defense need to be addressed once again, and very significantly. Way too many runs have been scored on the Angels this year, it's ugly! I really like Ohtani both personally and as a player, but if it keeps the team from addressing pitching and defense I don't know how you justify keeping him when you have a budget limit.
  7. A pretty flat performance overall tonight, especially by Sandoval. I am starting to think of this guy as a head case. Maybe he needs a new home before next year.
  8. Or maybe he likes playing baseball, and being around his current teammates. Many times players build stronger legacies when they play for one team in their career. That would be a good sign for the Angels.
  9. CJ needs to stick to selling Mazda's. He's not relevant to this team anymore.
  10. No one can force a person to have a medical procedure, including baseball players. You have to consent to it. In a life or death situation a medical procedure can be performed to save someone's life, this was not a life or death situation. In this situation there is absolutely no way that Minasian could force Ohtani to have an MRI on his elbow without his consent.
  11. Maybe, just maybe he likes being around his teammates. And that might help to resign him.
  12. Should have been wearing a motorcycle helmet, but Arte's too cheap to buy him one.
  13. No, clean out the organization and you will have nothing for a few years with no guarantee of what will come after that. That's a fan emotional reaction brought on by frustration, not a measured response with a plan to contend as soon as possible.
  14. Actually he has played a little RF before. Certainly he would be better offensively than Renfroe.
  15. I think that is jumping to a conclusion based on too little information about the injury. He could return to pitching, but maybe a relief role would be better, reduced innings with less wear and tear. He could become a position player, who knows the possible outcomes at this point. We still have three months until free agency, a lot more will be known at that time if the Angels don't sign him to a contract in the interim. He is still very valuable to this team no matter the outcome.
  16. They remove the top hook of the bone in this surgery. I don't know why the wrist would be damaged, the doctor said he couldn't hurt it any more. It's a pain management thing, and obviously it still hurts enough for him to be not effective. Coupled with the Ohtani news, I think it would be silly to play him anymore this year.
  17. Adams should have never been here in the first place. So what he did here is pretty much irrelevant at this point. He was just a stop gap to get to Trout coming back, and with Moniak and Renfroe playing through minor injuries and looking tired.
  18. But are we going to get a tropical storm if Ohtani leaves?
  19. Right now they need several that can pitch, defend, and move runners. This team has hit plenty of homers, while fans love that it’s not providing wins.
