  1. As a long suffering Broncos fan I appreciate that remark.
  2. Really love what this team has done with the rotation. They’ve really done a good job taking it from point of weakness to a strength.
  3. Here is an article from the Hollywood Reporter today regarding the bankruptcy. BY ALEX WEPRIN MARCH 14, 2023 6:07PM Bankruptcy has come for America’s regional sports networks. Diamond Sports Group, the Sinclair-affiliated company that is the country’s largest owner of RSNs, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday evening in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Diamond operates 19 RSNs under the Bally Sports brand name, with games from more than half of all MLB, NBA and NHL teams. In a release Tuesday, the company said that it “intends to use the proceedings to restructure and strengthen its balance sheet, while continuing to broadcast quality live sports productions to fans across the nation.” The company says its RSNs will continue to operate during the proceedings and that it has $425 million in cash on hand. The company is “finalizing a Restructuring Support Agreement (‘RSA’) with holders of a majority of the Company’s debt and Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (‘Sinclair’) to eliminate over $8 billion of the Company’s outstanding debt,” it added. “The DSG Board of Managers has been evaluating strategic opportunities with the support of its advisors and in coordination with creditors to position the Company for long-term success and has determined that the best path forward for the Company and its stakeholders is to restructure through a Chapter 11 process,” DSG CEO David Preschlack said in a statement. “DSG will continue broadcasting games and connecting fans across the country with the sports and teams they love. With the support of our creditors, we expect to execute a prompt and efficient reorganization and to emerge from the restructuring process as a stronger company.” Sinclair Broadcast Group created DSG in 2019 after acquiring the former Fox Sports RSNs, which were sold as part of Fox’s sale to Disney. But the cable TV business has eroded much faster than anticipated, forcing the company to develop a direct-to-streaming offering on an accelerated timetable, annoying its league partners in the process. With their regional appeal and expensive fees, RSNs have become a tough sell for many cable providers, after long being part of pay-TVs linchpin. Warner Bros. Discovery, another owner of RSNs, told its leaguer partners last month that it wanted to exit the business entirely, offering to hand over its RSNs to the MLB, NBA and NHL for no cost.
  4. Yep, let’s hope Silseth goes 4 innings. We’re down to about two more weeks of spring training.
  5. Right now agree Canning is looking pretty good and hope he wins that spot, I think Davidson would get you something in return. Most teams would love to add a cost effective lefty to the rotation.
  6. Yet another story to add more fuel for the fire. No mention of the Angels in article. MLBBBy Joe Lucia on 03/13/2023 Diamond Sports Group’s march towards bankruptcy is expected to end with a filing sometime this week. There has been no shortage of speculation about what will happen to the Bally Sports RSNs and the teams whose games air on those RSNs following the bankruptcy, and this weekend, the New York Post added another round of musings to the heap. Per the Post, Diamond will “reject the contracts” of a minimum of four teams during its bankruptcy proceedings. The mentioned teams are the Diamondbacks, Guardians, Padres, and Reds. Last week, the Sports Business Journal reported that a rights payment from Diamond to the Diamondbacks was late, while the publication also mentioned that the Guardians, Padres, and Reds all had deals which “greatly favor the teams.” The Post initially reported in December that Diamond “will likely” reject unprofitable contracts during bankruptcy proceedings, which the company called “unequivocally false”. If the four teams lose their RSN homes, the Post claims MLB will step in and take over production and distribution of the games (which commissioner Rob Manfred said in February), streaming them for free locally until a deal is reached with cable operators to carry the games (on a platform or channel to be named later). It’s worth noting that media rights don’t immediately revert to the teams in the event of a bankruptcy filing, and MLB would need to win back those rights in court. SBJ reported last week that during the bankruptcy, Diamond is expected to “continue producing and carrying those games.” Of course, that would likely be moot if Diamond rejects the contracts, a possibility repeatedly floated by the Post. Last month, SBJ reported that Warner Bros. Discovery was getting out of the RSN game as of March 31st. MLB is negotiating with distributors to keep the three teams affected (Astros, Pirates, Rockies) on the air, and is expected to produce shoulder programming in addition to the games themselves. 7. When he does makes contact the ball jumps off his bat. Keep him triple A and see if he can figure it out.
  8. Unfortunately he’s showing he can’t make consistent contact. Until he can he belongs in triple A.
  9. I guess they should trade him if they’re out of contention and get something for him. Hopefully they’ll be in all the way and then he walks into free agency but it’s going to sting either way.
  10. Yep agree, it’s nice to see some talent in the system. Hopefully Perry keeps stacking the system.
  11. Yep agree, kinda of a double edged sword. Looking like he’s setting up to have a prolific year. I try not to think about him leaving unfortunately I’m not confident the Halos will be able to retain him. Really hope I’m wrong.
  12. Bats need to show up now that the Sandoval is out of the game.
  13. Yep, because they’re smart enough to permanently stay on daylight savings time unlike most of the nation staying with the antiquated time change. Hopefully we’ll join them and permanently switch and be done with this nonsense.
  14. So far I have to say this WBC has been pretty interesting and entertaining from my perspective but admittedly I’m an addict so not sure how much interest the casual sports fan is having in this. Hopefully this is sparking interest in baseball for the casual fans.
  15. Definitely looks legit, hopefully when he eventually becomes available the Halos land him.
  16. Here let me fix it to something more appropriate to the thread……
  17. It’s Friday night, time to start the weekend!
  18. Love that vintage look, wish they would go back to these uniforms full time.
  19. The Dutchman, Nice (Bert Blyleven)! Had a hell of a year for the Halos in 89.
  20. Nailed it, your day to go to Vegas! Loved that team, bummer losing out to the BoSox in the ALCS.
  21. I know it’s only one game but definitely loved the new Play by Play guy (Wayne Randazzo)!!! One game already a big improvement over anyone we’ve had since Victor Rojas. Good voice, Easy to listen to. Seemed to know when to talk and when not to, not awkward very natural fit with Gubi. Such a difference. He needs to be doing the play by play on all the games.
