You know those teams who play above their talent level and just seem to find a way to win? Well the Angels are the complete opposite of that.

This team is so broken. They have had guys all over the bases in every inning. 2 on/no out = automatic strike out. Snell is not that sharp tonight but gets a K whenever he needs it and now a double play.
-
So Nevin won’t play Moniak vs Snell because he struggles vs lefties so instead he plays Rengifo in RF? Yeah that makes sense. Don’t play the guy who struggles vs lefties - play the guy who struggles against everybody.
-
Good points made and I don’t see any hope for a turn around. I have said before that I wish they could trade/get rid of almost all of their high $ players and play the youngsters. I would rather they suck with young guys than be mediocre with superstars. At least there would be hope for the future.
The best team by far that they have won a series against this year is Seattle. The other series they have won were against the worst teams in baseball: Oak/KC/StL/Wash - all last place teams. The Angels current record is fool’s gold.

Lol, Trout is not tradable with his contract so he isn’t going anywhere. If they are way out of it before the deadline I can see Ohtani getting traded though
True but I wanted to trade him before his contract was up. Might be able to get the Yankees to take him but I know it’ll never happen. Nothing against him I just have no faith in this organization.
Gonna be another long season as they keep finding exciting ways to lose every night. -
Going to get flamed for this but I think they should just trade Ohtani, Trout, DFA guys like Tepera and Loup and just burn this thing down. As long as they have high priced guys there will be playoff hopes/expectations. (Didn’t mention Rendon because you can’t trade him you’re just stuck until his contracts up)
Where have they gotten in a decade with Trout? Build the minors up, lose 90 games for a couple of years if that’s what it takes. Be good or be really bad - mediocrity doesn’t pay off. Blow it up and try to become the Rays (or the ‘02 Angels).

So 85mph over the middle of the plate is not a good pitch?
Sorry but this is a bad baseball team…every day they find different ways to lose.

Big win tonight
Got a W with Barria and Loup pitching!

Or it’s just 8 games into the season and Renfroe is a slow starter
I didn’t seriously mean that that’s why he’s hitting tonight…just thought the timing was funny.
-
So maybe Renfroe heard Nevin was on the phone with Adell then someone told him that Joe had his 5th straight game with a HR.
Coincidence or motivation???

I have zero confidence in Tepera.
Phil heard you and is bringing in Loup. Don’t you feel better now?

I don’t get why the Angels keep him around. We’ve seen enough from him to know he’s mediocre at best
Didn’t you just answer your own question? Mediocre would make him one of the best relievers in their bullpen.
But I get it - Barria is never going to be very good.

No outs let’s see if $100 million plus worth of salaries can get the lead for the Halos.
A quick answer to that question!

Here we go. Bottom of the line up starting out good this inning.

Matt Thaiss has been the recipient behind the dish of 16 runs allowed across 14 innings caught from Suarez, Barria and Anderson thus far in 2023.
Contrast to Logan O'Hoppe who has caught 53 innings of Angels pitchers that have allowed just 13 runs to date.
Interesting but let him catch Ohtani or Sandy and see if he’s the problem. Either way I think he should be gone when Stassi gets back and they should go with Stassi and O’Hoppe. It looks like Thaiss just can’t hit big league pitching.

One bad game. It happens.
Hope so. His location was terrible. Seemed like half his pitches were above the belt and he doesn’t throw hard enough to get away with that.
-
Nice location again Anderson.
89 and up over the middle of the plate? Not good. -

Yuck, Jake Lamb

Alright Rendon...time to earn that paycheck...
Well at least he got the run home.

Ohtani?
I’ll concede that one but I’m talking about MLB guys. My point is that it seems like when they sign guys they suck as soon as they put on an Angels uniform. Ohtani was a MLB rookie. The others mentioned were all signed over a decade ago.

Like Hunter and Vlad?
Sorry, I guess I should have specified in the last 10 years or so but I figured everyone would understand. Pujols, Hamilton, Rendon etc. They all played/have played much worse after signing with the Angels.
I hope Anderson, Renfrow etc prove me wrong but recent history does not give me hope. -

Bichette is killing it.
He is but if you throw off speed right over the heart of the plate most guys are going to kill you.
And here we go…why does every outside free agent the Angels sign suck?

Yes and they already have 2 more years of Tyler Anderson to fill that role.
