I think it’s gonna be difficult for the Angels to sign any of the remaining top free agents.
It seems like they may be waiting for prices to fall, but:
1) that may not happen.
2) even if it does happen, then other teams are gonna jump in the mix. Particularly ones that are more desirable to play for.
So the needle they’re trying to thread is waiting for prices to drop some, but not to the point where other teams jump in or the player decides to take even less just to play for a better team.

Just sign Montgomery and Soler. Costs less per year than Snell and JD, but you’ll have to give Soler 3 years instead of one year for JD. But if you want to replace Shohei you sign Snell and JD.

Also, you can only put a player on the 60-day IL when you’re adding someone else to the 40-man.

Just don't see how or why they "rotate" the DH. Even if you sit Rendon, Trout, and O'Hoppe once a week (which is a lot), that's still 3-4 games worth of ABs. Why would they think it's better to have Ward, Adell, Drury, and Rengifo fill that spot than 5 days of a Soler/JD type? Just weird. Plus those guys would have real value at the deadline.

Even before he broke himself in half last season, his underlying batting metrics weren't that great.  I think people see his .299 batting average and think he was solid. 

Getting Gio back would be nice and all to strengthen the depth of this offense but boy are we still sorely in need of some power in this lineup
