BTH got a reaction from ShotimeDynasty in OC Register: Angels’ Ron Washington has a tentative lineup plan, with Anthony Rendon hitting cleanup
I’d be interested to know what spot Trout/Rendon prefer to hit in.
I think making players comfortable is the most important part of lineup order.
Like Neto said he prefers to hit 9th, and Wash is gonna bat him 9th.

One can fake it at SS and one can’t.
Also, I’d rather have Urshela AND Stefanic than Stefanic and ???

Sticking with guys who are even worse than below league average doesn’t move the depth chart forward.

I didn’t forget.
But maybe you forgot what the SS depth ends up looking like when Neto and Rengifo go down (hint: see Velazquez, Andrew).
I don’t want to see Livan Soto or Ehire Adrianza on the team in June.

I feel more confident in Sano/Dozier/White as AAA backups at 1B than I do with Soto/Paris/Adrianza at SS.

Those guys might be cooked offensively.
I don’t get why you’d spend $1.65M on Cimber and $1.75M on Cisnero, but not add Urshela or Rosario for $1.5M.
Either they have something else coming, or the front office misallocated their resources.

and this has been a problem for the Angels for sometime with the likes of Velazquez, Mayfield, Soto, Wade, Villar and the like trying to fill in for the starting SS.

BTH reacted to Vegas Halo Fan in Next Round of MLB Expansion Thread - Nashville, Portland, Salt Lake, Charlotte, Montreal, Orlando all on radar
Just do away with the American and National Leagues altogether. Interleague play has essentially done that already. Set up divisions that make geographic sense, and have everyone play under the MLB banner.

Kind of?
But with no DH, he’s gonna get more ABs somewhere than a traditional backup. And he’s also the backup at 2B or 3B if Drury/Rendon go down.
So I think they need a 6th infielder, preferably someone who could play SS.

This.
Or, as I’ve theorized in the past, how about developing a bunch of relievers that can pitch 3 innings or ~1 time through the order. Build them up to 40-50 pitches and 2-3 days rest.
Looking at the current 40-man, guys who could easily fit in that role: Bachman, Caceres, Daniel, Herget, Mederos, Suarez, Wantz.

If the Mets didn’t want to pay Snell/Montgomery with a healthy Senga, I don’t see why they would want to pay them without a healthy Senga.
The whole reason they’re out on big free agent spending this offseason (besides the 25 y/o Yamamoto) is because they believe their time to strike is 2025, when they have an infusion of youth (Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, Acuña, Gilbert, Scott, etc.)

from the article: Right now, there are enough so-so (relative to the best major leaguers) middle infielders that you can sign them for cheap. So naturally, the Rays are doing just that, and picking the ones who most fit their roster construction style to do so. Good work, Rays; the rest of baseball surely won’t be far behind on the same plan."
Given that the Marlins just hired the Rays GM as their POBO this offseason, their strategies are likely similar.

They must be confident he bounces back to his 2022 form.
Because there are guys who had betters years than him last year who got less money.
Diekman, Miller, Suter, Floro, Alexander, Farmer, Gott.

BTH reacted to Jeff Fletcher in OC Register: Angels’ Taylor Ward passes a test on his way back from frightening injury
It means they have a schedule of which situations/fundamentals they are going to focus on, and they handled some of them before the start of camp because everyone was there.
For example, one day they do a whole thing on first and third bunt defenses, one day they do rundowns, etc.
