Three weeks wait to begin selling makes more sense. Our chances of making the playoffs are low, but stranger things have happened.

If we are further than six or farther back of a WC, coming out of the AS break, then I say sell at that point.

And as much as the idea of getting a return THIS YEAR on trading Trout makes sense, it would alienate such a large percentage of the fan base that Arte wouldn't dare. If we are still pathetically mediocre by mid 2019, then a much larger percentage would be accepting of a trade.

Well I think it’s time for Eppler to put a new manager in place right now. He can start the transition process early with bringing in a new voice. The new manager may analyze things differently and look to take some corrective measures right away instead of continuing to just turn the page every night.

It’s official 2018 is a dumpster fire that is burning bright and has no signs of going out soon. Trading deadline ahead and Angels can sell off some of their remaining assets to pick up some prospects that might help turn around this stumbling franchise. Why is Chris Young still on a MLB roster? What young prospective manager is out there that could breathe life into th Angels roster next season?

I think it is time to sell and I wouldn’t mind if they brought in a new manager to begin getting acclimated with the organization. A new manager can begin the evaluation process and help Eppler make personnel decisions now instead of next spring. Transition time should start sooner than later.

  3. Walter Alston managed the Dodgers for 23 years but had over 2000 wins, 7 NL pennants and 4 WS championships to show for it. Scioscia had a good early run but it’s time for him to leave the managing to someone else. Perhaps a front office position would be good for him and the organization.

Trout shouldn't be part of this conversation. He would never demand anything that’s been suggested.

You have to remember that $7M goes to salary increases and Skaggs, Heaney + others will be getting raises through arbitration

The GM job is easy. Trade your prospects.....no don’t trade your prospects. Sign this guy for $150M......no don’t sign that guy for $150M. Try trading your declining crap for their best star players.....no those teams won’t make those deals so our GM sucks.

Attrition people. It takes time but that’s how you clear the deck.

At least the cannon fodder we've got in the bullpen have some interesting names.

Deck McGuire...cool baseball name, kind of a throwback to a bygone era, like the 1890's.

    Hansel Robles. Where's Gretel??

Akeel Morris...isn't he a linebacker with the 49ers?

Oliver Drake...wasn't he the guy who moved to the country with his wife, played by Eva Gabor? Now that show was funny!

We talk about extending Trout but he’s well aware of what they’re surrounding him with.

Its seems we agree then at least on one aspect, if the Angels haven't completely fallen out of it by July moves will surley be made. I dont think there's any timetable on moves to be made, if a deal Eppler likes presents itself, im sure he'll pull the trigger regardless of the what month it is.

It’s all about timing. The July deals will most likely require prospects in return. Eppler probably won’t do that. The August deals usually require accepting some teams salary dump. It’s not easy to get great players unless you’re willing give away the farm or tons of money. I don’t think any of the potential playoff teams are lining up to see if we can give them Cozart, Kinsler, Valbuena, Young, Blash or some of the other dudes the OP mentioned in return.

They have money coming off the books again after this year and more budget room than they had at this time last year...

They waited until the end of August last season. We’re still in June. If they’re within striking distance in two months with this core group then Arte may allow Eppler to begin filling some expiring contracts. He’s not going to do it now. I understand that Ohtani’s posting fee doesn’t count against against the cap but you can bet that Arte is counting it as a out of pocket payroll expense in 2018 regardless.

You may be right and the budget may be maxed. But the owner can go beyond the budget if he really wants to fix the problems......a lot of the problems he created.

The owner is incredibly rich & the real estate market is making him richer by the day. He has made a lot of money with the team as well. If he really wants to win than he could spend more money.

You spend money you make money. Arte made money on the Pujols signing. He has already made a profit on that. The one thing Arte does not have is a WS ring.

He won’t. More money comes off off the books after this season so Eppler can spin the wheel again. We can give special thanks to both of those great acquisitions Kinsler and Cozart for putting Arte back in yacht mode for 2018. April was pretty cool though.

Hansel Robles, Eduardo Paredes, Deck McGuire, Akeel Morris, Oliver Drake and a slew of others pitching meaningful innings for a team that's supposed to contend for a playoff spot?

At least we didn't blow a save today.

    How can he justify this?

I would like some thoughts on how this is ok?

This is the direct result of a tapped out budget. Arte has spent over $200M with salaries, benefits and Ohtani’s posting fees on this year’s team. He’s not going to let Eppler add anymore money in 2018.
