I wanted to share my most recent pencil art of Mike Trout.

Travis Rodgers is not a Jim Rome clone, guys. Quite the opposite. There's a reason he reminds people of Rome and that is because Rome patterned his style and presentation after Rodgers. Everything that came out of Rome's mouth was put there by Rodgers. I can only imagine how much it must bother him to have people believe the opposite.
 
Anyway, this sucks. I listen to Travis every morning. His show is great.

Travis didn't create Rome, but he almost certainly was the driving force behind what made Rome as big as he was. The Smackoff that Rome is famous for was a creation of Travis Rodgers. The fact that most of his show is scripted, and that script came from Rodgers, shows that a TON of the credit for Rome becoming the most succesful sports radio host ever should go to Travis Rodgers.
As for them sounding alike, yea, maybe, but Rodgers show is not nearly as bad as Romes. I think that might be because the format is different with most of the "takes" being tweets rather than callers and clones. I like Rodgers a lot, because he is humble, unlike Jim Rome.

It's ridiculous that a group of immensely talented people would use the value of their skill as leverage to negotiate beneficial financial compensation. The very nerve.

Ron Washington's ranch is very pretty. It has tangerine trees and Marmalade skies.

Trout is less than two months older than Bedrosian. Math, people.

Probably too many 2002 games, but a few others to throw in the mix.
 
The 9/11/2002 memorial game vs. Oakland. Oakland was still riding that high of their ridiculous winning streak but the Angels had hung in their with them and were only a few games back. Oakland jumped out to an early 4 run lead, but the Angels clawed back...only to see the A's take the lead again. Wooten comes up with a huge hit to put the Angels over the top. The energy in that stadium was absolutely amazing, especially with the white rally towels and it really set the stage for what happened the rest of the year.

Another great game was the Salmon bomb in the 10th to win the game on the road vs. Oakland a few days later. I can remember watching every pitch of that game on pins and needles.
 
I always enjoyed the Lackey game in 2006 where he gave the leadoff hit and then shut down the next 27 batters in a row. I can remember I heard the first Oak batter come up and hit a double. Figured it would be a long night. Came back to the car to hear Lackey finish off the last batter in the 9th and then realized he had retired every batter but the first. Maybe the game sucked, but only stands out in my mind because of the circumstances.

It's No. 16 on our list, Jeff.
 
I think part of the issue with that one, however, is that very few probably even saw it. It was on the road, final game of a mediocre 81-81 season. And with the way games were televised back then (i.e. sparingly), there's a chance this one wasn't even on (though it probably was considering it was on a Sunday afternoon). 
 
And it's not attached to a great player like Nolan Ryan or Vlad Guerrero. Mike Witt was a very good pitcher, but he's hardly celebrated in baseball lore.
 
All of that said, damn straight it's one of the greatest games in Angels history. Outside of our list, however, you just don't ever see/hear much about it.

I'll still defend when I feel it's appropriate, but good lord do I dislike the Josh Hamilton signing now. It's the worst acquisition of that bunch. And at least the other guys seemed to try/care. They still sucked, but did so with good intentions. I don't know what Hamilton is doing.
