  1. This is the part that has been maddening this year. Was he always like this and I somehow didn't notice? In the 1st inning yesterday, Ohtani walked on 4 pitches (with Trout on second after hitting a double) and then Simmons just hacked away at the fist pitch he saw and popped out. Couldn't even advance the runners. The guy might be the smartest player I have ever seen in the field. How can he be so brain-dead at the plate so much of the time?
  2. I would bump the blame up a little more for the offense. You gotta score more than 1 run against a 16-30 team.
  3. According to BR, his OPS+ is -3. I honestly did not realize it could be a negative number.
  4. No, you're not crazy. If those things happen it would indeed be great. Now, if you're expecting those things to happen...
  5. Was just thinking the same thing. He's like Lucroy. Only the opposite.
  6. There was no way he was only going to give up 2 runs today. The Angels have had plenty of men on base and are 0-7 with RISP. Disappointing.
  7. It's like when you see an ex-girlfriend at a bar being a complete bitch to the guy she is with, and you smile. You feel bad for the guy, but mostly you're happy you don't have to deal with that BS anymore.
  8. I wish the Angels would stop wasting La Stella's prime.
  9. I was wondering the exact same thing. When Buxton bobbled it, I expected Ohtani to be safe by 10 feet.
  10. That's my second-favorite at-bat of his time in Anaheim, after the double (and subsequent arrow-firing) off Rodney in '14.
  11. Correct. We also would have accepted Matt Joyce or David Murphy. It was not a great season in LF.
  12. Remember when we could forgive his offense because his defense was so good?
  13. Point out to them that Betts plays in a Little League stadium and Trout would hit 70 doubles playing there. This usually drives them crazy; they know that Fenway is a dump but they are soccer-mom-protective of it.
  14. I agree completely, but isn't that what they're in the process of doing? They let Richards and Shoemaker walk. I have not heard anyone talk about extending Heaney, Skaggs or Tropeano. (Admittedly I could have missed something.) If those guys can't stay healthy, don't we expect the Angels to let them walk, too?
  15. It doesn't seem possible that anyone could be slower than AP... but after that play, I honestly think Bour is slower. He looked like he was dragging one of those resistance parachutes behind him.
  16. They should get that printed on their hoodies this year.
  17. It's truly atrocious. Many of these pitches he's calling strikes are more than a baseball out of the zone.
