  1. We could use another trip down memory lane on this boring day. In hindsight it looks like both teams fared well in the trade. And it’s not ridiculous at all to have been upset about trading this guy making the league minimum especially given our current pitching and payroll.

  2. Trading prospects is okay if you have a lot of depth in the farm and/or young talent already on the team. (Ie the Astros for verlander or the dodgers for darvish) imagine the state of the franchise if we traded trout for someone like Braun in 2011 though. The farm would be gutted and the team now would still be recovering from that. Ultimately I don’t think it’s the best move to make right now unless you can come away with a solid contributor for a prospect in a position that we may not necessarily need. But it’s  hard to say what what the angels should do at the moment, definitely between a rock and a hard place with a lackluster farm and an mlb roster that has potential to make the playoffs yet still has some question marks, all while trying to make the most out of prime trouts years.

  3. Lol at the gurriel situation becoming some huge debacle. I know it’s not what people want to hear but athletes everywhere make jokes about race on the regular. We live in a country where the “redskins” are still a team name ffs. Fortunately for Gurriel he’s not white otherwise he’d be getting absolutely destroyed over this.

On on another note, the dodgers better hope wood can give them 5+ innings tonight, their pen has been laboring.

Is Reddick really all they have for RF? The guy really seems like the weakest link at this point. It's like Maddon staying with Zobrist, a guy who really pretty much sucked at the plate all year, in every playoff game.

    Freaking Scioscia-like managerial behavior.

He had a pretty good year this year hitting 315 with 15 home runs or something. He bats lefty and is also getting paid pretty nicely. Their alternatives are Maybin or Beltran I suppose. Hinch would prob get all kinds of shit if he sat Reddick for either of those guys lol.

Giles didn't come in for the 6 out save. They kept him in after they took the lead

He was still asked to pitch 2 innings which is something he doesn’t do. He clearly didn’t have it anymore when his pitch count was approaching 30, everything was either hilariously out of the zone or a fastball served up the middle.

Last night Roberts used his bullpen for the win, going with his best arms and then was stuck with his bottom guys to fill out innings 10-11. The Astros were playing from behind so Hinch held back his best guys.

The only reason it worked out for the Astros is Jansen blew the win, something he just doesn't do. The Dodgers still scored 3 runs off the best the Astros have. The Astros picked up two off of the last resort the Dodgers had for the win. I doubt we see this play out the same way again.

As for the Astros being familiar with Darvish. At Minute Maid Park his career ERA is 2.16.

Jansen blowing the win is something he just doesn’t do just like getting 6 out saves is something he just doesn’t do. So as long as Roberts goes with him to get 2 inning saves the Astros chances of scoring on him will go way up. Roberts way overmanaged the pen last night. This whole 6 out save trend is getting out of hand, it failed for both teams last night and will keep failing if both managers keep trying it.
