Actually this is quite a reasonable take! We are seeing improvements!

I don't think you look at signing either of them to just for this season because they're going to get at least a three-year deal. If the Angels finish in 3rd or 4th place this season but their young core have really good seasons, there's going to be a ton of optimism heading into 2025 with an ace locked up for that campaign and the next.
They need to quit it with these 1-year deals hoping to catch lightning in a bottle garbage.
If you have a Snell type locked up, get a good season out of 2-3 of Detmers/Canning/Sandoval/Silseth you can add another arm via FA and head into '25 full steam ahead.

It's not '61s fault, he learned to key directly from Samuel Morse, before he added punctuation to the signal set.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I think we have to grab either Snell or Mont to set us up for 2025 and potentially thru the next 3 or 4 years

The price has clearly gone down if Bellinger is any indication. If Arte refuses now, he has no interest in winning.

I’ve been shunned on here this winter for saying we should trade a starter if we signed Snell or Monty. But the FO and coaching staff have been pretty adamant about wanting to go back to a 5 man rotation (as they should). Also theres zero chance angels go into the year with a rotation of 4 lefties so someone has to go.

Detmers- has shown a lot of potential and still has several years of control, he’s not going anywhere.
Sandoval-same with potential but is a headcase on the mound at times and only has two years left of control.
Anderson-I think he can bounce back and have a decent year but unless we are eating most of, if not all of his salary he’s not going anywhere. I doubt Perry has the balls to say he's going to the bullpen as a long reliever/spot starter for $11mill a year
Someone’s got to go! Losing a guy like Sandoval would be a blow yes but if he can bring back a solid bat or even a couple mid level prospects let’s do it

The logical part of my brain says it made no sense to give up a pick for a guy who may opt out in a year.
But 3/$80M is so much lower than his original projections that I feel like the Angels could’ve worked something out that got them more than 1 year of Bellinger without long-term risk.

I'm 40. Baseball was best for me in the 90's, especially the summer time.
We very rarely got Angels games on up here in Canada (always Blue Jays or Expos), so when Sunday Night Baseball was shown on TSN up here, I would tape any Angels games that were on. Well I'd be at summer camp for two weeks and there always seemed to be an Angels game on when I was away. So I would get my Dad to tape the game for me and when I came home from camp, I'd sit and watch the whole game, even though by that time I knew who won.
And the "dog days of summer" always felt that way as a young kid and a baseball fan.
    God I miss those days.

I put $20 on the Angels in 2002. It was at 50 to 1 odds. Got a cool 1K

    That's really the point.
But Urshela is just a placeholder. I'm not broken up about not signing him. But we definitely need another infielder.

and this has been a problem for the Angels for sometime with the likes of Velazquez, Mayfield, Soto, Wade, Villar and the like trying to fill in for the starting SS.

Well, they’re trying to create a first class experience there.
Something I can’t say the Angels are doing.
When Scott Harris took over as the Detroit Tigers' president of baseball operations exactly 17 months ago, he went on a fact-finding mission.
He met with every player, wanting to find out how the franchise could do a better job of supporting them, and he ended up doing far more listening than talking. The feedback from players convinced him that changes were needed.
So, Harris took a proposal to Christopher Ilitch, who made it happen.
Ilitch, the chairman and CEO of the Tigers, made a presentation to the team on Tuesday morning in the clubhouse before the second day of full-squad workouts in spring training, unveiling some of the improvements that have been made throughout the organization, including changes at Comerica Park.
"It's pretty cool what he did," catcher Jake Rogers said. "He did a lot more than we expected. He really listened, which is pretty cool from an owner. To have meetings with Scott Harris and listen to him and be like, 'Hey, look, this is what the guys are saying.' And he didn't have to do any of it. It's changes to literally everything."
The changes range from a new plane to transforming the old weight room into a performance center with cardio machines, weight machines and much more. There's a new meeting room, too.
A new kitchen and clubhouse renovations were unveiled to the players in last year's spring training and completed before the beginning of last season.
This year, there are even new showers.
