  1. He's been out for nearly 50 days, so he could still return mid-August.
  2. They are about 5.5 over the tax so every little bit helps I guess.... don't know if they actually get any tax savings from cash considerations, but you'd think so, as they got $2M from the Rockies to offset Grichuk and Cron's nearly $6M remaining salary.
  3. Yeah, I just meant they could've grabbed him twice if they wanted to talk on the money. If it was enough to get them under the tax, I would definitely do it.
  4. I'm actually fine with Bachman, Devenski, and Joyce coming back to replace a few, we'd already have a roster crunch when they return.
  5. They won't give up anything of value as he's passed through waivers twice now, and been outrighted, meaning any team can just take him, right?
  6. Yes, I did a mea culpa a few posts up... And while I know he's hot, but he's not a traditional leadoff guy. He swings for the fences when he should be doubling into the gap. He doesn't steal bags. Has a career .298 OBP. Doesn't walk at a high rate, although that is up this year. I want a guy with a .360-.400 OBP that walks. He's doing that right now, but I am worried about how long it lasts.
  7. Like, it sucks he didn't even get on base for Ohtani just now... he went and hit himself a HR... LOL (SARCASM ON)....
  8. Prolly? Do you mean Probably? But yes, I would've. Scioscia would also never have pinch hit for Ohtani even with cramps...in the situation on Friday night.
  9. Wow right after the game ended. I know it was 2:15 CST as I gave myself a hard out for 3:15 EST to leave for the airport in Toronto, and it was 3:14 pm when it ended according to the stadium clock. When did the trade get made? I was on a plane and saw it when I landed at 9:15 PST.
  10. I did see a note saying Drury says he may do a rehab assignment in SLC this week and hoped to be active on Thursday against Seattle.
  11. Yah, 27 Retired 2x. The Angels first two HOF will both have it Retired. And probably 17 for sure when Ohtani is done. In Baseball, with just 40 men on the roster, and no roster number limitations like football, team can easily retire the numbers of their best career guys.. it's an honor. And when someone goes into the HOF, they should do it if they played a number of their games with the team, even if the majority was somewhere else (Like Carew)...or if they went in as another team (Ryan)...
  12. Highly doubtful. Question: Where would you play Verdugo when Trout returns? With CJ Cron, they no longer will use Renfroe at 1st as a RH complement to the LH Moustakas, and that's even with Drury Returning. If you say he's platooning, what's the point? They have Grichuk, Moniak and Renfroe now, with Trout due to return soon, and will have an infield crunch soon, with the acquisition of Cron, Escobar, and Moustakas to go along with Rengfio, Neto, Rendon, and Drury...three of these guys sit every day.
  13. A really slow starter. Plus he's been given regular playing time now with all of the injuries. He's started 72 of 106, but in July he's started 19 (including today) of the 23 games, which means he had started 53 of 83 before this month.
  14. If they made this move, Escobar probably goes back in the deal, and when Rendon comes back, who sits?
  15. You are right on for the Grichuk acquisition. It's funny cuz you were probably recording this and the deal was getting done. I agree with you on the Velazquez...now that Davidson is gone, they need to move on from him as well.
  16. I don't know if you didn't see this or you're just trolling, but Canning is still sore from his last start, and he's not being traded. We don't need Verdugo. Red Sox and Padres (Soto) aren't selling.
  17. Maybe I just see him as too streaky, I dont know...I just dont' like him at the top of the lineup. He bugs me. He is hot though.
  18. I'm guessing...He'll be back by August 10th. Why limit it?
  19. And 27 when Trout Retires....they should retire the number twice. Salmon too.. Anderson Maybe. Finley Maybe. Weaver Maybe.
  20. The point above was the 60-day for Rendon, would put him out into September... 60 days from July 11.
  21. It's retroactive to when he first was placed on the 10-day. And yes he was transferred to 60 when they acquired Giolito and Lopez.
  22. I do wonder what they do when the guys on the 60 day IL need to be activated (Joyce, O'Hoppe). They have more flexibility now with guys in the pen like Silseth, Soriano, Webb, etc... only Barria is in the pen without options. So if Bachman and Devenski come back soon, they can drop someone. Devenski doesn't have options, while Bachman does. So they don't need to activate Bachman in the majors the way they will with Devenski. Neither C has options, to keep them in the organization, so that will complicate things when O'Hoppe comes back, which is why they likely don't add O'Hoppe back until at least 8-21 (Putting Wallach on the IL until they can expand rosters to 28 and add three catchers). As far as Trout, Drury, Rendon, they will have a roster crunch on other position players. Velazquez and Stefanic are two of the three that will likely be sent down, but who is the 3rd (if Rendon comes back)? Again, it's not an issue when they go to 28 on Sept. 1. I predict they will option Stefanic for Drury and then Velazquez for Trout, but then who knows. For the 28-man expansion it will either be two position players (O'Hoppe and then Rendon), or one and one reliever. We'll see.
  23. Yes he was. FYI: When it says "Selected", it means they added him to the 40 man. In this case re-added. When they acquired Giolito and Lopez, they DFA'd Davidson, Walsh, and transferred Joyce to 60-Day IL...That opened three spots, but they were only adding two guys. Then they "Selected" Padlo on Sunday before the game, putting Ward on 10-Day IL, for an active roster spot, and DFA'd him after the game when they acquired Grichuck and Cron. They also put Ward on the 60-Day DL, opening one more 40-man spot. They had to option Cabbage to open a 26-man spot (along with Padlo's spot) for the two new guys from the Rockies.
  24. They have other players they can drop from the 40-man pitcher wise, if they grab another reliever in a deal that doesn't cost anyone from the 40.
