  1. Why does Perry get all this love from, when the team has been a fucking disaster now for three years running? OK, they seem to have had some good draft picks, but the minor leagues are still terrible, almost all the free agent signings have been disasters, and most of the trades have been meh if not outright bad. 2021 Season Signings & Trade Acquisitions (2020-2021 Offseason) Jose Quintana Kurt Suzuki Alex Claudio Tony Watson Steve Cishek 2021 Midseason Moves Traded Andrew Heaney for 2 Minor Leaguers Traded Tony Watson for 3 Minor Leaguers Signed Adam Eaton 2022 Season Signings & Trade Acquisitions (2021-2022 Offseason) Rasiel Iglesias (re-sign) Noah Syndergaard Aaron Loup Ryan Tepera Michael Lorenzen Archie Bradley Kurt Suzuki (re-sign) Matt Duffy Tyler Wade Andrew Velazquez 2022 Midseason Moves Acquired Jadiel Sanchez, Mickey Moniak for Noah Syndergaard Acquired Logan O'Hoppe for Brandon Marsh Acquired Tucker Davidson and Jesse Chavez for Rasiel Iglesias. 2023 Season Signings & Trade Acquisitions (2022-2023 Offseason) Tyler Anderson Brandon Drury Carlos Estevez Matt Moore Gio Urshela Hunter Renfroe 2023 Midseason Moves Acquired Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez for Edgar Quero and Ky Bush Acquired Randal Grichuk and CJ Cron for Jake Madden and Madison Albright Acquired Dominic Leone for Jeremiah Jackson Traded Tucker Davidson for Cash Acquired Eduardo Escobar for 2 Minor Leaguers Acquired Mike Moustakas for 2 Minor Leaguers So that's what 4/31 on Major League Moves
  2. This didn't come from the GM office. This came from Arte, and Perry is doing what he is told. Hoping to keep his job. I doubt it will happen.
  3. Anyone who thinks this is a good move.... Nevin is most certainly getting fired and Perry is probably getting pushed out the door as well. @swordsman78 and other Jock Swingers...Face reality. Your guys suck at their jobs. Time for a complete overhaul.
  4. Agreed on Swordsman. He is smug, know it all, jerk. I see that when Rendon plays, and he's healthy, this team is better. And it wouldn't surprise me if he's got a poor attitude with all of the random injuries.
  5. Rational is not supporting the manager who has a 107-127 record. Rendon leaving means you have to get two third baseman, meaning signing Moustakas and another one, like Urshela. Plus when he is healthy he is still productive. Would I trade him if someone wanted to pick up his whole or the majority of the deal? And it didn't require sacrificing a young player or prospect like Joyce or Neto? Of course, but if the Angels had to pay the entire contract, I don't see the point in essentially cutting him with that much left on his deal. We all have our players we don't like and the ones we do. You and I greatly differ on those we like and don't like, but it doesn't make one of us right or wrong. You're not wrong, but you have been combative, smug, know it all asshat since you started posting, and no one here likes you. But keep on posting bud.
  6. The fact that you support him cracks me up. The cost to get rid of Rendon outweighs what he is owed.
  7. Bumping this, but I actually think Arte sells after the season. Watching this team self destruct, he's gonna be tired.
  8. Everyone knows what I am going to say here, but I'll start with Minasian. Nevin. Montgomery. Wise (And I hoped he'd be a better pitching coach but no). Thames. As far as players: Loup, Escobar, Velazsquez. Renfroe is meh. Rengifo should be traded. Barria can go as he's struggling. I'd also let Cron go, and consider bringing back Grichuck, but may let him go as well. But the majority of the team is gonna be here. 1B: Schanuel 2B: Drury 3B: Rendon SS: Neto Catcher: O'Hoppe CF: Trout LF: Moniak RF: Ward DH: Ohtani? -- with his injury, I think the chances of him staying put skyrocketed from a low point after the deadline. I think he was in line for a huge contract, and had maybe a 10% chance of staying prior (down from 50% if they had improved after the deadline) and now while he'll get one, it's not topping Mike's by much and it will include opt-outs. Bench: Thaiss, Moustakas (Re-sign), Urshela or comparable (Re-sign), Adell SP: Giolito or comparable (Re-sign), Sandoval, Anderson, Detmers, Canning, Silseth RP: Estevez, Moore (Re-Sign), Lopez (Re-Sign), Bachman, Devenski, Joyce, TBD, TBD.
  9. If he's back in ten days. There are 40 games left, I'd bet Schanuel plays 25-30 of them?
  10. Benji and Jose Molina did the vast majority of the Catching in 2005. But Josh Paul was the third string Catcher, and he's who you are thinking of. He was at the plate with Doug Eddings as the Umpire. The ball did not drop. AJ Pierzinsky was the White Sox Catcher who ran to 1st base anyway.
  11. 4 PA per game for the next 40 games is 160 PA and that would void his rookie eligibility. O'Hoppe has 75 and he's likely to get at least that many more, so he's probably out for rookie eligibility.
  12. Last thing, I promise... I am in no way defending Franco, or his actions. OK? Let's just be clear about that. But I do like to see the investigation pan out before people call for banning him for life. Bauer didn't get banned, and I didn't defend him either. If there is an actual accusation, like there was in the Bauer case, I will believe the woman, but I do want to see an investigation before I condemn Franco or call for his banishment. Now lets go beat the Rays 3/3 this weekend!
  13. Agreed. I think the Angels have a chance as this is a huge distraction.
  14. Also on an unrelated note, did we all know that Erick and Willy Aybar sister is Franco's mom? They're his uncles.
  15. First off, I've done my reading on this, and there are dozens of articles that state that the girl is 17, not 14. And if you dont want to discuss things, why post? Don't be a dick.
  16. First off, the 14 is inaccurate reporting. AP says the girl was 17. I do understand legal and age gaps and age of consent.... But to think that there aren't thousands of 22 year olds dating 17 year olds is to be ignorant. How many movies are there where a High School girl dates a College Guy? It happens. Heck one dude in my high school class married a 22 year old teacher from our school the day he turned 18. I'm not saying it's ok, I'm saying it happens..and a 5 year age gap is a lot closer to being acceptable than a 22 year age gap. I'll tell you one of my examples is way creepier than the other, but both are probably not appropriate. Do we know what the Age of Consent is in the DR? (edit -- its 18) If she was 14, I understand your sentiment about being banned for life, as that's a child. But 17? A few months before it's legal? It will be a suspension, but not a banishment. I'm not defending him, FYI, I think age of consent is age of consent, and that is the law. But to ban for life? I doubt it. Also, I will say, I havent read the social media posts, and I dont know if there was violence (which changes the deal), or what the circumstances were.
  17. Yeah, I mean, he was hitting with a metal bat in Florida, but bat to ball skills will translate well. From the ESPN article about the promotion https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38215301/nolan-schanuel-mlb-draft-rookie-los-angles-angels Schanuel was hitting .370/.510/.493 in 21 minor league games after a standout career at Florida Atlantic. The .493 Slugging Percentage is evidence of what I said above, his power is going to take a bit of time, but a .510 OBP in AA? Yes Please. From the beginning of the spring, picking up pace until draft day, some scouts swore that Schanuel was the best hitter in the draft not named Dylan Crews or Wyatt Langford. The report from those scouts was basically that Schanuel was at least a plus hitter with plus pitch selection and plus power -- something like a .270 average, .350 on-base percentage and 25 homers, broadly speaking. That's not a superstar as a first baseman, but it's a really valuable player, particularly while making the league minimum in his first three MLB seasons.
  18. Rendon to the 60 Day IL? It was retroactive to July 11, so that means September 8th or 9th is when he'd be eligible to come back, so he must still be weeks away from being healthy enough to resume baseball activities. Cron to 10 day IL, Rendon to 60 Day IL is my guess of the roster moves.
