  1. The season is now over 25% complete. The small sample size argument is fading in all categories, with regards to team stats.
  2. There is a line of reasoning that goes, if the Angels go really bad, they wont trade Trout because he would be the only reason to watch the team. In person, or on TV.
  3. Sending runners is a good way to avoid some DPs. Unfortunately, the Angels are, or were, 29th in stolen bases before last night. We are certainly not a running team.
  4. I've never felt we were that injury prone............until this year. So, Wilson, Skaggs, Soto, Simmons, Nava, Gentry, Street, Heaney, Richards, Rasmus, Pennington. I think all of these players were expected to spend more than 50% of the season on the 25 man roster, at the beginning of the season..
  5. Is Matt Joyce the poster boy for a player who is shit for us and finds himself when he leaves? He's in the running. .378/.509/1.264 with FIVE HRS AND 15 RIBBIES IN ONLY 40 SOMETHING ABs!! OK, it's early. He never did this EARLY for us............ We're like Cape Canaveral or something. Always a launching pad for a big splash somewhere else.
  6. Even before Richards went down, Santiago has been our best starter this year. Congratulations, Hector. You are really looking good!!
  7. Uh, I think there's a little more to it than that............like a bat flip, a HBP AND a hard slide. I dont like either player, but I have been sick of Bautista's attitude for MUCH longer................long before the showboat bat flip. He's the biggest strike complainer in the game, by far.
  8. It's beginning to look like David Ortiz is one of those rare players who is retiring when he certainly hasn't lost much, if any, ability to perform. Who else has retired near the top of their game? Maybe Ted Williams. Sandy Koufax, but he was forced out by injury. I cant think of any others in baseball. Barry Sanders may be the greatest example in any sport.
  9. Ex-Angel Bobby Wilson hit his second HR of the season, today. Both are Grand Slams.
  10. Pardon me if this offends, but Salas looks as good as he ever has, in his last few appearances. Of course, that's not saying much.
  11. Interesting to read the comments and see how delayed some folks feeds are.
  12. How can you say this, without giving proof of this? Some of us are left wondering if you are just drinking the koolaid to protect your "official press credentials" with Mr. Mead. Set us straight. Who told you that Arte didnt instigate the deals for Albert and/or Hambone? Somebody outside the organization who has no conflict of interest? The rest of the press thinks otherwise; that it was Moreno-engineering. These signing are completely contrary to the Dipoto MO.
  13. Dipoto got him for the Angels. Dipoto realized that last year's stats were an aberration. Iannetta will be back around his career .370 OBP.
  14. Astros are playing much better in the last week. They've won 4 of their last 6. Angels and A's are filtering down to where most predicted they would be...........4th and 5th. Who knows which is which. A's seem like they have better pitching than us; not withstanding tonight's Sonny Gray blowout..
  15. Astros about to win their 13th game. We'll be in the cellar by Friday.
  16. " You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law" I see many violations of more than a few sections of this clause, every day. Is this really going to be enforced? The underlined ones come to mind. Is this just CYA for the attorneys?
  17. WTH, if Simmons goes to the DL, bring him up. The season is in the toilet, anyway. Time to get the kids some big league seasoning.
  18. Cubs sweep the Nats. Finish 7-0 on their homestand. Baez walk-off HR. An amazing 7.5 game lead in the NL Cent in the first week of May. And, yet, this team really hasnt started to hit for average, as I think they can..........
  19. This is so true. Yes, many of us older fans remember the 90s and even the early-mid 70s, when the Angels had 7 straight losing seasons. But this is new territory for a lot of new Angel fans. And, yes, we still have Mike Trout. Even the Cubs had Ernie Banks. Poor guy never made it to the playoffs his entire career. At least Mike made it once, though he probably will never actually win a playoff game in an Angel uni.
  20. With the pitcher batting eighth, I can dream we have Maddon as a manager for a night. Then, Scioscia will make a bonehead move on the field, and I will be back to reality.
  21. I think some of us underestimated how positively mediocre the AL West is turning out to be. Myself, included.
  22. Exactly! Gia was the perfect person to inspire the fire I saw in all his teammates. And he really seems to have improved, defensively, this year. He looks so much more confident in the field.
