  1. I think you've just discovered the origin of the Angels using the Buttercup song!
  2. Our last hit was the fourth inning. That was almost a ballgame ago.
  3. Salas gets away with a fat pitch..............I dont care what Gubi says.
  4. Four lousy hits through nine, against a team with a bloated ERA.
  5. Yeah, but all those pitches were mid thigh to the belt. He's leaving a lot of pitches too far up.
  6. All three of his pitches were awful. Thank God Mauer looked at two of them.
  7. Yeah, a #3 hitter who is hitting for power and a winning record in April.
  8. For a team that has had a leadoff hitter get on at a .440 clip, you'd sure think we'd have more runs this season. Nava's done OK in the few games he's played. I guess Trout is to blame. I've never seen him go through such a stretch where he isnt even hitting the ball that hard. I did not see his first AB today.
  9. So, has James established thresholds on what is an Excellent, Good, Average or Bad start? Seems like a stat I will likely ignore. I am liking WHIP as an evaluator of a pitcher.
  10. Crowds of well-wishers have descended on the hospital where the victim was taken.............oh, wait, It looks like they are crowds of lawyers, vying for her signature.
  11. Always liked Rasmus's stuff. Looks like he is commanding all his pitches right now. That straight curve and slider are nearly unhittable to a righty. Seems to be overthrowing the fastball, occasionally. Rasmus for 7th inning guy!!!
  12. Escobar now second in the AL in hits. Tied for 8th in batting.
  13. .......Nothing is coming up on Google. Does anyone know who has sung the National Anthem the last two nights in St. Louis before the Blues-Blackhawks games. They have been absolutely scintillating versions. I can only listen on radio, so I dont have the benefit of the TV graphics or anything.
  14. I'm thinking that the Rockies can hit with ANYONE in ANY park. 6-1 over the Cubbies today. Their home/away splits arent that different, really. In fact they have hit the same number of HRs on the road as at home. But they have done it in 2 fewer games.
  15. What is this stat? Is it new? Dont remember it in box scores in the past. How do I interpret these values?
  16. Offensively, we're still near the bottom of the AL in runs scored and in team BA. Something like 12th and 13th. Most all of our off-season moves were about addressing that. Still, there are new bright spots. Escobar, Nava, Soto, Gentry-somewhat. Kole looks great. We need to get Trout and Albert going (though Albert has a couple clutch hits). If Gia doesnt get going in th next week, its time to stick Cliffy in there on a regular basis. Cron is a complete basket case.
  17. And yet, the Padres have a higher team BA than the Angels and have scored more runs than the Angels. Still, I believe the Padres were just shut out for the fifth time in ten games this season. They scored one run in one game, two in another and three in another. They also scored 29 runs in two games against the Rockies.
  18. Cant believe how overboard many are going, after ONE FRICKIN' APPEARANCE in an Angel uni. His delivery reminds me of Jim Kaat.
  19. His fielding trait, that I was unaware of, is how quickly he transfers the ball when receiving a throw from 1st or 2nd on a DP. He's lightning fast. I knew about his arm and range. I also like how much taller he is than most SS. He can throw the ball more easily over a sliding runner on the throw to first. Very pleased with his ability to make contact. Good things happen when you make contact. I just need to watch him more to see if he is being selective on the pitches he swings at. Maybe that explains why he hasnt hit for a better average in his career. Or maybe he just needs to mature as a hitter more.
  20. It's incredible how many foul balls land untouched in this park.
