What's with the Romine talk? Guy is nothing more than a hot turd. Realistically, we were probably looking at 2 decent catching options as free agents that we could get on short term deals. Those players were Castro and Chirinos. Most people seemed to be ok with us acquiring one of those two and we did. Granted, I do believe Castro is very capable of taking an absolute shit as a hitter and posting something along the lines of .210 average and .280 OBP. However, with the decent power and defense, it could still be ok. He was one of the better free agent catchers available and has had a respectable career up to this point. No sense in really whining about it when our main weakness is still our starting pitching.

I saw that too and if that ends up being the case, ok. If Chirinos gets similar money and one year, that’s who I wanted. But I still wasn’t upset with the Castro signing.

I wouldn’t even do Adams for Boyd. I just don’t see the hype with Boyd. Adams should probably included in a deal for a better pitcher than Boyd if we are going to trade him.

I would rather sign Alex Wood than trade for David Price. I don’t think Price is as bad as some people are making him out to be, but it would seem to make more sense to sign Wood and not trade any prospects...

You’re right and I do want Canning to get his shot. But I think it would make us better as a team and that’s what I want the most. I just really hope we get one of them.

I want both but that may be ridiculous. I just like the idea of having a lot of depth and these two pitchers are good arms when healthy. They shouldn’t cost too much and shouldn’t get anything more than one year deals, so if we don’t get at least one of them, I would be pretty baffled at wtf Eppler is doing. I think both of these pitchers are better than Pineda/Gibson and we may able to be get them for less per year. So yea, this is something I hope we do after all the pitching we have missed out on.

Nothing against Lugo as a player, but he seems like one of those guys who just needs to accept his role as a reliever and run with it. He hasn’t started many career games, but the year he started the most (18) he posted a 4.71 ERA. He’s most likely a 4 + ERA pitcher as a starter, which is fine, but I think people need to temper expectations if they expect him to be the mid 2 ERA or even 3 ERA guy he has shown he can be as a reliever. He has gone on the record saying he wants to be a starter so we will see if someone gives him the chance.
