  1. This one. Last years team wasn't very good. They packed in the defense and Ky couldn't make anything. Different today. UCLA is for real. Going in to Rupp and beating #1 and their slimeball coach is better than last season.
  2. Amazon has some good deals on The Wire ($57) and The Sopranos ($70) today. My place in oregon has no cell service and only satellite internet so streaming is out. I like the high bitrate blu-rays better than streaming anyway though I miss the convenience of streaming . Bought several blu-ray sets lately (battlestar, thrones, rome, entourage).
  3. Some good deals on the phantom 3 standard lately. Samsclub has it for $379 on Nov 12. It doesn't have quite as good of a camera as the newer models (or P3 advance or pro) and doesn't have obstacle avoidance but it's still a great drone. A couple of years ago an inferior drone would be well over $1k. All the models mentioned have similar flight time, about 21 to 28 minutes and are easy to fly. I'll be in for a Mavic or P4 when I get back to my place in oregon, mainly for the increased range. There are a lot of deer, elk and turkey on the property (about 860 acres). Wolves too, though I've never seen them. I've been looking to see if I can attach my FLIR camera for night flying or if I have to fabricate a solution on the CNC. The Mavic also allows for VR goggles. Fun hobby.
  4. The Rangers were only two games better than the Angels in the Pantherian Standings, and in the playoffs they played like it.
  5. The O's gameday thread is 170+ pages. They are displeased.
  6. So stupid. Britton could have thrown multiple innings if need be.
  7. This sure as hell isn't an example of "unfettered capitalism". This is a good example of government fuckery. If this was capitalism there would be plenty of companies that would line up to be able to offer this product at a tiny fraction of the cost. You only own the ideas in your own head, and any products you can create from that idea are also yours to sell. If someone else comes up with the same or similar idea on their own, or if you tell them the idea, or if they get the idea from looking at your product, or even if they reverse-engineer your product, then the idea is then in their heads and is no longer exclusively yours. Any products they create from that idea is now their property. That doesn't mean you can't try to hide your ideas. When I've shipped a product, you can bet that I do whatever I can to make it difficult to copy my ideas (firmware). Set security bits, paint the board so that chips are unrecognizable. Make it more difficult to reverse engineer. One of my metal detector designs was obviously dumped and copied by a chinese company and attempted to be reproduced. The pulse timing was identical down to the quarter microsecond. They skimped on the design using a cheap A/D and noisy front-end electronics and coil so it didn't matter much anyway. IP is just an attempt to guarantee profits backed up by government threats of violence. Any investment in capital resources (human, material, R&D) requires economic calculation. Using government force to try to guarantee a certain number of years of profit just skews that economic calculation. The weak argument "But without IP we wouldn't have ______ drug and people would die!" Bullshit. Without IP these companies would just sit around doing nothing? No. They would still seek profit, just using a more honest economic calculation. Quit imagining that these government "protections" are metered out fairly. They go disproportionately to those who "lobby", er... bribe the most. If you want money out of politics then quit giving politicians power over people's free and voluntary interactions. Do you really believe that not only those politicians, but the power you've just given them, is not for sale? True free market capitalism is far older than the oldest government. It exists without coercion. Strong government control over corporations (and corporations competing to purchase favors from government officials) is much more a tenet of fascism.
  8. The Angels have fallen to just 7 games over .500. They'll probably fall below by seasons end. The Braves have exactly 10,414 wins and losses.
  9. The womans rugby teams I was watching this morning have twice the balls that this bullpen has.
  10. Juan Valdez sucks. Maybe he's nervous or whatever but I intensely dislike walk prone relievers.
  11. One trick pony Morin. A 20 mph difference from fastball to changeup isn't really more effective than a 10 mph difference to major league hitters. Yeah, occasionally you can make the hitter look very bad but I'd rather have a pitcher who often makes the batter look slightly bad. His location sucks too.
  12. The A's Root Beer Float Day to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research is still my favorite.
  13. Moore is still in there (surprising). I guess Cash wants to stay away from his middle relievers too.
  14. Hey Salas Alvarez went that a way --------->>>>> Please join him.
  15. Moore at 100 pitches. It's now a battle of the (very bad) bullpens. Salas is pinata #1 ...and Rays take the lead.
  16. Simmons! That is some serious range. Nice start Hector. Just what was needed.
  17. Cron comes through big! 6-0 I'll check Brookbaseball later but it appeared Nava got hosed on two of those pitches.
