  1. His entire MLB career is a small sample size. He's just completed his age 29 season with 277 plate appearances. Epitome of AAAA player. He hits for absolutely no power, and he doesn't take walks. The Angels already have slap hitters with below average on base skills. He is still redundant behind Nava and Gentry.
  2. OBP .299, SLG% .307, OPS .605, OPS+ 72. Robertson's chance was fairly given. Good guy. Solid fielder at all three OF positions. He is, however, completely redundant behind Nava and Gentry.
  3. If the Angels want to receive significant value in trade, they need to offer significant value. Both Wilson (1 year) and Santiago (2 years) have value, but they won't return a young, cost-controlled OF or 2B of serious value either. Unless the Angels are willing to part with Richards, Heaney, or Calhoun the options are limited.
  4. If I go back in time and kill Baby Hitler, I may prevent him from killing Uber Hitler.
  5. Well, the Reds could conceivably be interested on a short-term deal.
  6. Before any of the Big Four OF? Heyward already signed. Before all of the Big Four OF? Not a very adventurous bet.
  7. All good thank you's, but no one here impresses me (and warms my soul) like Troll Daddy and his deep analytical wisdom.
  8. This big spend on a SP by the Giants, hopefully, eliminates them as competitors to the Angels in the LF free agent market.
  9. The topic title should read Los Angeles Time not LAT.
  10. The 2014 98 win team over-performed. The 2015 85 win team under-performed. Eppler is building a better team in 2016 from 2015. However, the rest of the AL West is getting better. Is it enough?
  11. I peaked for four years from 1998 - 2001. We should appreciate the gift offered whether it is for one year or for 20 years.
  12. I'm far more optimistic than this. We're getting the last three years of Andre Ethier and his bloated contract.
  13. Because the anonymous internet is the way to bring out the best in people. LOL!
  14. It's a risk too. No disagreement. Neil Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera were better choices for 2B, but they didn't work out for one reason or another. Both are also more expensive than Escobar.
  15. but Yasiel Puig always has the hearty aroma of masitas de puerco... mmmmm
  16. Who is better at this: Jimmy Haslam of the Cleveland Browns or Jeffrey Loria of the Miami Marlins?
  17. I agree that Clippard would be a good choice to go with Smith and Street.
  18. Strictly from an offensive (OPS) perspective: Kyle Kubitza - maybe. Kaleb Cowart - probably not. Both struggled in their first trip to the majors, but Trout's first trip was relatively uneventful too. So your point there is fair. A reasonable scenario I could see: Sign Juan Uribe on a one-year contract... Escobar at 2B and platoon Kubitza (left) with Uribe (right) at 3B.
  19. Can I ask... why are you OK with Giavotella at 2B? His defense in 2015 was statistically baseball's worst. If another 2B can come close to his .694 OPS and play basic, league average defense, that would be a 2.2 WAR player instead of a 1.0 WAR player.
  20. Agree! Even Josh Hamilton in his current form is a .750 OPS, 110 OPS+ left-fielder. $25m/year would easily pay for upgrades at 2B and 3B.
  21. Doesn't Justin Morneau offer the same platoon potential at a lower cost and no trade, or is his concussion history killing his market?
