I've said it before I'll say it again.  Perez has been playing very well late.  He's going to be the starter next season.  Great trade Dipoto.

Really like Perez as our backup catcher, very solid all around catcher.  Obviously not good enough to be a starter, but is probably on the upper tier of backup catchers.

2B isn't really the problem.  LF and C is.

.5 WAR so far this year.  If his D improves he'd be a pretty solid everyday player.

I wasn't expecting very much from Johnny, I mean Howie was a borderline all-star caliber player averaging 3.5 WAR the last 5 seasons.  I can't complain about a player making near league minimum and playing as a league average player.  That was the knock when he was in the Royals system, great bat, no glove.

Correra and Bryant are two great choices.  I wouldn't pick pitching because decent pitching right now is a bit easier to find than a decent two way position player.

Variance and the concept of a "game".  If we didn't have the concept of a "game," where we just look at results after a finite amount of innings then the Blue Jays and A'ths would be seen as the "better teams."  But because we view baseball results through 9 inning increments, run differential isn't a very important statistic.

Here's a question I've always had many people disagree me with.  Suppose there are two baseball teams and they play for the World Series, Team A wins 3 games, each by at least 10 runs, Team B wins 4 games and wins each game by a margin of 2 or less.  Sample size implications aside, which team is the "better team?"

Whenever I see the word "feel" used in this type of context, I'm reminded of the gambler's fallacy of recency bias. "It landed on red 6 times in a row!  It's gotta be black on the next spin, I feel it!"  While "feel" sometimes does work, it doesn't work very often.

As I was reading this article, really reminded me of that episode the Simpsons did about sabermetrics and baseball which had none other than Mike Scioscia guest starring.

Here's the wiki of the episode. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MoneyBart

Another fun fact, Alex Rios had a .710 OPS in TEXAS and got a 1 yr 11 mil contract.  Joyce hit .732 OPS and will be paid about 5.5 mil in arbitration.  Who would you rather have?

The tie breaker for me is that Trumbo netted two almost major league ready and team controlled pitchers, for Trumbo a barely 1 WAR player who's only skill is that he can hit the baseball very far, with subpar OBP and avg.  Sure Heaney might be who we expect him to be, but Kendrick was a 3-4 WAR player at a very reasonable contract with 1 year left.

Not completely sold on Green, though there isn't much to go off of.  Career .640 OPS in limited time as a 27 yr old, very unlikely he'll vastly improve, but if he has a .700 OPS, the Angels can definitely live with his iffy defense.

Love this trade for the Angels.  Obviously prospects are always hit or miss, but for 1 year of Kendrick, definitely worth the risk.
