They're a little tough.

If you look at any of this objectively, none of it makes sense. * Albert's trainer (and good friend) spills a big secret like this ... and he chooses Clark as the guy? Really?!?! * With all of the investigations that have been going into PEDs by MLB and other agencies, Albert's name has never come up. * Albert has never tested dirty. While this may (or may not) have been the case for other athletes that later came up as using, again ... Albert's name has never come up in any of the investigations. * Clark is in the first week of a brand new radio show. Hmmm ... what would be a great way to let people know he's on the air? To get people to tune in? To jump start the ratings? I don't know, maybe you make s**t up about one of the city's most beloved athletes. I don't know whether or not Albert ever used (though I tend to believe he didn't), but I'm pretty certain Clark is full of it!

The point is that Albert adds God and family to everything he does in his life. It's just who he is. He's not adding it as a "trump card." He's adding it because he always adds it. If Albert never talked about God and his family, then it would certainly come across disingenuous or trump card-like, but that's not the case. He's not adding it to boost his case, he adds it because he always adds it. That's who he is. EDIT: By the way, that doesn't mean I think you should believe him or not believe him. But calling him out on the God and family thing now doesn't make sense.

Things sound disingenuous when they're brought up in a way that is out of character for the person, in an effort to frame themselves in a better light. Albert talks about God and his family all the time. It's who he is. It's who he's been for the entirety of his career. It's anything but disingenuous.

Albert's statement ... I’ve said time and time again that I would never take, or even consider taking, anything illegal. I’ve been tested hundreds of times throughout my career and never once have I tested positive. It is irresponsible and reckless for Jack Clark to have falsely accused me of using PED’s. My faith in Jesus Christ, and my respect for this game are too important to me. I would never be able to look my wife or kids in the eye if I had done what this man is accusing me of. I know people are tired of athletes saying they are innocent, asking for the public to believe in them, only to have their sins exposed later down the road. But I am not one of those athletes, and I will not stand to have my name and my family’s name, dragged through the mud. I am currently in the process of taking legal action against Jack Clark and his employers at WGNU 920AM. I am going to send a message that you cannot act in a reckless manner, like they have, and get away with it. If I have to be the athlete to carry the torch and pave the way for other innocent players to see that you can do something about it, I am proud to be that person. I have five young children and I take being a role model very seriously. The last thing I want is for the fans, and especially the kids out there, to question my reputation and character.

I actually think Trumbo is much better in the field than he gets credit for. The dude has not had a "home" in the field for 2 years. He was a solid 1st baseman in 2011 (and was still developing). Then he got kicked to 3rd, then to RF, then to LF, then back to 1B, etc etc etc. I don't think he's a good utility guy (someone you can just throw into any position and he'll be fine). I really think if he was given a position to stick with, he'd be more than solid.

I hate this because I love Trumbo (hell ... we named our St. Bernard after him). But it's honestly not a bad idea. While I think I'd rather see us trade Bourjos in this scenerio, Trumbo would certainly get us something better.
