Angels home game. So the Angels are getting paid. MLB makes this stuff worth their while. I think we’d see a return to Montreal before Mexico though.

It’s only a month away now. As always a huge day for the organization. The Angels have the 15th pick. I’ve seen two mock drafts now that have the Angels taking toolsy outfielders. How do we think it’ll go ? Here’s MLB pipelines mock draft.

Jim Callis has MLB pipelines 1st mock draft. He has the Angels taking an outfielder as well. Corbin Carroll.

Prospects ? Unclear. I think you look at maybe Tampa Bay. Its not an easy trade and I suspect it won’t happen.

I dunno man. I think any team could use a guy like Andrelton Simmons. In my mind he’s a championship type player.

Here’s a thing to consider. Who would be interested in giving him say. 5 years and 100 million? Keep in mind that he’ll be 31 once his contract with the Halos expires. As I said before. I’m really not sure what kind of contract I’d want to give him. I think 5/100 is a wholly justified ask on his end - should his current production keep up. Which I anticipate it will.

And to be clear, I’m not for trading Simmons. I just think that there are scenarios that would make it something that makes sense for the good of the team. And the clock is ticking on his time as a player in what’s traditionally considered “prime years” the Angels are entering a time where there really needs to be urgency to be a contender. Urgency to be a contender is not how I would describe what they did this last offseason.

Simmons leaving the Angels would for me be the most painful player to see go. I’m not old enough for some of the guys from the late 70’s and 80’s. But.....this could be a sell high opportunity. Like @Chuckster70 says. If some team absolutely backs up the truck for him. Potentially this moves the Angels closer to a serious contention window. My biggest thing is that I’m not sure what kind of contract I’d want to give him should they extend him. IMO you really can’t pay guys significantly if they aren’t going to deliver with the bat. Simmons is solid now, and I’m not concerned about his fielding work declining. But I’m not sure how the bat plays as he exits his prime years.
