Ochocinco! reacted to BTH in Thoughts on the reworked bullpen
They must be confident he bounces back to his 2022 form.
Because there are guys who had betters years than him last year who got less money.
Diekman, Miller, Suter, Floro, Alexander, Farmer, Gott.

Ochocinco! got a reaction from EdmontonAngelsFan in The Official Los Angeles Angels 2023-2024 Hot Stove Offseason Thread
We have all been clamoring for Mike to be more vocal and express his desires... Well today is about as open as he can be to the fans, the media and the FO. He wants to be here and win here, he has not and will not ask for a trade YET but in return he wants Arte to keep improving this team or at least attempt to improve it. So I can easily see Trout and Perry telling Arte they want money for Snell or Monty but Arte thinking it might not move the needle enough "entertainment" wise. Bellinger however as many of us have talked about this offseason seems like the perfect Arte deal. He gets an ex Dodger and another lefty in the lineup, it just makes too much sense if Arte was to be pressured into signing one of the bigger FA's remaining.
Id certainly be happy if we signed Bellinger but as usual the SP is still very suspect

I’m sure Rendon will be going on the 60IL anyday now so Soto should be safe

Honestly I'm not even that concerned with his bat. It's the defense that worries me.
Hopefully he can work with Wash and Trout and figure out how to run down a baseball.

Ochocinco! got a reaction from Dgar24 in Arte reveals he is not planning to sell, budget will be lowered, and no update on stadium talks with Anaheim in interview
So the budget is lower and Perry has spent $50 million on the bullpen … cool

I don't think the Padres would take Anderson and all the money that is owed to him, for Kim im guessing it would be something like Canning and Moniak for Kim and some random prospect. Not saying id like to get rid of Canning but value wise on the trade value machine thats about what makes sense...
Ive already mentioned it a while ago in this thread. If there is any chance at obtaining Kim you do it, dude is a stud. Let him play 2nd and backup SS for when Neto gets his injuries. Let Drury play 1B and DH. Let Rengifo play all over. Don't rely on Rendon for ANYTHING!!! Contract aside Rendon should not be looked at as an everyday player nor should his spot on this roster dictate whether or not we trade or sign another infielder/DH

I just posted something similar, but had forgotten about the draft pick, too--so, yeah, comparing Anderson and Ward to what the Brewers got does not line up favorably for the Angels, to say the least. Lol.

The Brewers technically speaking got 2 top100 prospects and a top what 35 pick in this years draft? Thats a far cry from Moniak and Tyler Anderson. Im sure teams will be offering 1 if not 2 top 100 prospects for Kim. But If the padres want guys that can play right away I think Moniak and either Canning or Silseth makes more sense for them and makes our offer more realistic/competitive.

Getting Gio back would be nice and all to strengthen the depth of this offense but boy are we still sorely in need of some power in this lineup

Idk wtf is going on but spending essentially $30 mill on nothing but your bullpen and a 5th outfielder is quite the unordinary offseason strategy… I don’t know if this means Perry is a dummy or Perry has plenty of room left to spend. Guess we just have to sit and wait till spring training starts to see this final roster but jeez I’m just as confused as anyone so far with these moves. Not to mention essentially this entire bullpen is out of options besides Soriano and Joyce.. weird

Ochocinco! reacted to tdawg87 in A case for Matt Chapman
Let me start off by saying Rendon is a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and his butt smells and he likes to kiss his own butt.
Matt Chapman plays 3rd base. He plays 3rd base well.
"But tdawg, we already HAVE a 3rd baseman!"
Please refer to the top of the page. Also there's some statistical nerd shit that I'd like to share.
Fangraphs really likes Matt Chapman in 2024. These are his current ZIPS projections:
.240 AVG, 25 HR, .339 wOBA, 117 wRC+, 4.0 WAR.
And remember, ZIPS is generally on the conservative side (Taylor pls) when it comes to projections.
You know who Fangraphs doesn't like as much for 2024? Cody Bellinger. His ZIPS projections:
.267 AVG, 19 HR, .327 wOBA, 109 wRC+, 2.8 WAR.
Yes, Bellinger is younger. Yes he's a LHH. But he's almost certainly going to get a much larger contract than Chapman.
Now what do we do with Rendon, then?
Bat him DHth. Take him off the field and lower the boo-boo risk. Give him a day off once a week so Trout can DH. God I'm such a genious.
And although it's very unlikely, signing Chapman as opposed to Bellinger might give the Angels enough freedom to go after Snell or Montgomery as well. Again, highly unlikely and I know I just set off an alarm at @Inside Pitch's house by suggesting we forfeit 2 draft picks but I'm going balls deep here, man.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on signing Chapman as opposed to a guy like Bellinger? Am I an idiot? Yes. Should we stay away from any big contracts for hitters? Focus on pitching?
